Entry List

[edit]

I don't really understand what this section is for. Or rather, what the criteria is and what makes someone 'notable' enough to be mentioned here. I feel either this section needs to include a full list of all the entries, or be removed. Oli.meggitt (talk) 15:43, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think that once the track opens for practice, it's about time it be removed. It's meaningful filler material when the race is still in the distant future, but once it begins, it's fluff. In 2008, they had what seemed to be an unncessary entry list on the Indy 500 page...which was mostly a copy/paste of the entry chart from 2008 IRL. They ended up just using a link...as we have here. I say wait until opening day, and delete the section...leaving the link though for the entries. Doctorindy (talk) 16:15, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What cars?

[edit]

I notice no mention, or little mention of what cars everyonr was driving. I assume they were all Dallara IR5 Hondas. If so, was this the first time in the 93 race history the entire field drove the same car? I seem to recall one Panoz GF09B last year. Anyways - best place for a mention? --Falcadore (talk) 07:37, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A Panoz driven by Phil Giebler was entered last year but he crashed in practice. Last year's race field also consisted exclusively of Dallara IR5's. -Drdisque (talk) 15:38, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Far as I can tell it wasn't mentioned then either. --Falcadore (talk) 21:13, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have heard unconfirmed reports that the IR5 designation is a loose description in some case. An IR3 with an update kit 'becomes' and IR5. Also, I have heard (not confirmed) that some IR5s were originally built as a Panoz, and were modified/updated with Dallara parts, and are now simply referred to as IR5s since Panoz no longer provides support. The smaller teams might have those. Doctorindy (talk) 15:38, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
