Street vendor protests

[edit]

I'm currently having an internal debate over whether to include the street vendor protests in Armenia that started in January. There's no explicit link to the protests taking place now, although a lot of the protesters had similar complaints (high cost of living, inflation, low wages, etc.), and at least one article mentions that the Armenian opposition is sympathetic to the vendors. Here's a few links: Yerevan Municipality Cracks Down on Street Trading, Municipality ignores vendors' claims, New Mayor Bans Street Trade in Yerevan, Yerevan Street Sellers Protest Trading Ban, Armenia: Egypt events energizing opposition in Yerevan, Ban on Street Trade in Yerevan 'Irreversible'. Thoughts? -Kudzu1 (talk) 22:55, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Support - not much to say other than I support this measure. --Smart (talk) 09:42, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Year and copy-paste issue

[edit]

The protests in 2011 have a little association with the protests that started on May 8. Later ones are demanding new election, while the ones in 2011 where for political reforms and investigation of killing of 10 people on March 1, 2008.--Yerevanci (talk) 20:21, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have to stop copy-and-pasting moving, though. It's a violation of WP:MOVE. Read that and do the page move the proper way if you want it to be changed. -Kudzu1 (talk) 20:56, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, WOW!! What kind of bureaucracy follower are you. Does it really matter how you move the page?? Why are people making everything so complicated??--Yerevanci (talk) 21:20, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Eh, I did a few copy-and-paste moves to speed up the process of getting pages into the right place after South Sudan declared independence, and I got a quite unexpected editing block for a few hours for not following WP:MOVE. It's taken seriously here because copy-and-paste moves effectively leave a page's entire editing history, which is very useful information logging all the changes that have been made to a page for present and future reference, on a redirect. Drives the admins crazy. -Kudzu1 (talk) 21:33, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever, but this is really unnecessary and sometimes becomes annoying. Well, I understand that this is the right way and I will follow it.--Yerevanci (talk) 21:39, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is not unnecessary. You need a better attitude than "whatever". We keep edit history as a way of documenting and attributing who wrote what in this encyclopedia. Your cut-and-paste moves, continued after you had been directed to the relevant guideline, created even more annoyance when I had to mop up behind you. -- JHunterJ (talk) 14:00, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: page moved, cut-and-paste move undone, edit histories merged, edits done after the cut-and-paste move reapplied. -- JHunterJ (talk) 14:01, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

2011–2012 Armenian protests2011 Armenian protests – The protests in 2011 have a little association with the protests that started on May 8. Later ones are demanding new election, while the ones in 2011 where for political reforms and investigation of killing of 10 people on March 1, 2008. I also created 2012 Armenian parliamentary election protests article, which includes the protest of May 8 and will be updated with upcoming protests. The ANC had announced that they will continue protests against election results. relisted --Mike Cline (talk) 09:50, 19 May 2012 (UTC) Yerevanci (talk) 21:21, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Comment - Are you certain the last protest in these sequence was 30 September, and no other protests occurred after that? -Kudzu1 (talk) 21:31, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I'm not sure. I think there was another last demonstration sometime in November. I have to check in Armenian media websites.--Yerevanci (talk) 21:39, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
