Declaration of CoI

[edit]

I have just added more up to date information to the Care UK page, but wanted to disclose that I am an employee of the company. I believe that all of the content is neutral and factual and in the right tone, but if any more experienced editors feel differently I would welcome any feedback. A {{COI}} has been placed on the article due to unsourced change on the lead section by Stephenjonescareuk. The {{COI}} can be removed when independent volunteers have assessed the article for neutrality. Thankyou. Djm-leighpark (talk) 12:21, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Declaration of CoI

[edit]

Hi, I have been recently updating this page as it had a lot of old and inaccurate information about the company. Apologies that I did not disclose earlier that I am an employee, I am a little new to this but I have tried to ensure all information is neutral and factual and in the right tone, but if any more experienced editors feel differently I would welcome any feedback.

The sections I have updated relate to the services offering and history, These changes needed to be changed following the splitting up of the company from its healthcare side of the business. Care UK is now only providing Care homes services so it would have been outdated and factually incorrect to leave the services stating that we supply healthcare services. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephenjonescareuk (talkcontribs) 13:45, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Stephenjonescareuk its really good you've declared an association with the subject of the article, but per Special:Diff/1007327056 that conflict of interests need to be managed, and that generally means not editing the article directly. The addition of edits such as an awards win is typically best handled by {{edit request}}. Someone will probably look at whats need to remove the {{COI}} in due course; I'll queue it on my to-do list. Thankyou. Djm-leighpark (talk) 15:14, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Djm-leighpark Thanks for the feedback and happy to remove the award part if that oversteps the mark... If I notice things that should be amended how do I get these reviewed/changed without amending the article directly? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephenjonescareuk (talkcontribs) 15:23, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Stephenjonescareuk: Recommend asking at WP:TEAHOUSE if unsure .... To be clear Special:Diff/1059270791 which distractingly I felt I to needed check seemed to be lacking a bit of WP:COMPETENCY if not disruptive. I would suggest going to e.g. the TEAHOUSE before you dig yourself in deeper. And please sign stuff. Thankyou. Djm-leighpark (talk) 16:10, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Examing if I have a negative COI

[edit]

I have remembered a family member probably worked for Care UK (home care) circa 20 years ago and am wondering if I have a negative COI due to some experiences (not to say Care UK did anything wrong, if anything likely they were as good if not better than most). This time was well beyond the Bridgepoint Group takeover. It's probably not a COIN matter. I may be raising a COIN as the best way foreward. If I need to raise a COI on this requiring {{edit request}} ... simply too hard. Djm-leighpark (talk) 20:57, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bridgepoint issues

[edit]

While I have just come to realise I have a potential COI from maybe 20 years back due to a family member likely working for Care UK (home care) I remain concerned by the COI editing of Stephenjonescareuk which while not hidden seems to go against the advise on their talk page, in particular: We ask that you: avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;. In particular the content removal at Special:Diff/1007326915 and following edit war & possibly removal at Special:Diff/1059262623 may be a way of burying "bad news". That said it is totally reasonable to drop {{update}} templates on the article and/or to do {{request edit}} here. The recent Panorama program raising concerns over level of debt held by HC-ONE and Care UK [[1]] (though notably very little mention was make of Care UK). In the process of gathering information for the checking the COI editing especially in the consideration of whether Private Entity Bridgepoints split out of "Private Plus" whilst still having ultimate control of both entities means a debate whether to split out or contain within the article should be made by neutral editors, not a COI editor ultimately under a Private Equity Firm. Some URLs I was gathering are (not all might be suitable).

Thankyou.

I can't currently raisse a COIN on this. So probably statemate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Djm-leighpark (talkcontribs) 00:04, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting proposal of Practice Plus Group

[edit]

There may be strong reasons to split out Practice Plus Group. What is in my view unwise editing by COI editor Stephenjonescareuk has, in my opinion, led to the removal of information that would be disadvantageous to controlling Private-equity firm Bridgepoint Group; albeit that may have been in good faith and unintended. I have poor feeling about this matter and myself might not perform perform a neutral and appropriate split. It is also possible to maintain both companies on this page. It will probably take an experienced neutral editor to sort through the COI and perform the split retaining historic information; or alternatively maintain both brands on this page due to common ultimate ownership. Thankyou. Djm-leighpark (talk) 04:36, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I support reversing the wiping of the history of the primary & secondary arm (treatment centres etc). Would be valid either in a "divested businesses" section of this article, since the branding at the time was CARE UK; or in a new Practice Plus article. Wire723 (talk) 13:35, 11 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm coll with this going one way or the other, but am concerned per the recent BBC documentary the COI editing may have been for the purpose of hiding particular monetary or other manners; including adding of debt by Bridgepoint and suppression of this: [5] which Care UK won (and probably litte worse than other providers). I was also aware of the home care service that may sepparately sold to Mears per the aricle, which is separate from Practice Plus Group. Again I am per consensus for this to be split or not split as long as not used to "bury" or "lose" stuff. Thankyou. Djm-leighpark (talk) 20:22, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously, I am slightly biased as a company employee but would it not be better to have a 'Bridget point' article that discloses all the bridge point financials and points to the totally individual business articles of Care UK and the Practice Plus group. The point of my editing was not to hide anything but to clean up the mess on the page about businesses that have nothing to do with the working practices of Care UK. If anything the previous content seemed to only wish to focus on the negative aspects of the business and not the amazing work of the care teams. I would like to suggest that there would be less COI happening if there were more neutral editors happy to write about positive aspects rather than negative all the time.
