I don't understand how putting a template in between two external links is in accordance with WP:EL-- LeaveSleaves 07:05, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My bad. I meant to remove the link from the page, and I thought that reverting it would do the trick. But apparently, it did not. /ɪlεktʃɹɪk bluː/ 07:36, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Delta Air Lines

[edit]

Please do not add Delta to the destinations list. They do not serve serve Chennai anymore and has not been for over a year. The only Indian destination currently served by Delta is Mumbai from Atlanta via New York-JFK. You can no longer book a flight to Chennai on delta.com. Also, the airport's official website does not even list Delta. Please check your sources before readding. Thanks! Bucs2004 03:58, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chennai Anna International Airport

[edit]

There is no reference that suggests the name as 'Chennai Anna International Airport'. The international terminal is named after Anna. Not the airport. Hence correcting the name. --Gthorvey (talk) 05:46, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There's no indication that International is part of the name, either. One of the photos clearly says "CHENNAI AIRPORT". -- 3247 (talk) 12:46, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism on MAA

[edit]

The user with this IP address 27.54.35.13 is vandalising the article and is continuously making irrelevant edits.

Self contradiction

[edit]

It appears as if the article contradicts itself. It says that the new airport project at Sriperumbudur is to be shelved, and in the next section, it says that it has been approved? I'm not sure if I am understanding it wrong, or if the article itself is inaccurate. MikeLynch (talk) 13:19, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Other than the mention of soil testing, no news article claims that the greenfield airport has been approved. I guess we'll have to cut short the entire section to a small paragraph. There are questions of doubt whether this airport would be a reality. Abhishek191288 (talk) 15:03, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the stuff is speculative. Like 'it would become the only city in South India to have two operational airports'. Guess it should be shortened out. MikeLynch (talk) 15:50, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have shortened it. Please do make any necessary changes. Thanks, Abhishek191288 (talk) 15:52, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fourth busiest?

[edit]

According to AAI, the passenger traffic figures for Chennai airport is 10.53 million whereas per BIAL, the passenger traffic figures is 11.24 million see media release article of 25 December (both figures for a span for 1 yr. MAA being from Sep 09 to Aug 10 while for BLR being from Jan to Dec 10). So isn't BLR now clearly the third busiest? Pls comment. —Abhishek191288 (talk) 17:32, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

BLR is not clearly third since the period for which data collected is different. The AAI data is out till October 2010 for all Airports hence I suggest ranking is done with that. http://www.aai.aero/traffic_news/traffic_news_2010.jsp VtTN (talk) 20:58, 5 January 2011 (UTC)VtTN[reply]

I have a source here [1] which tells "On the back of strong economic growth in the region, Bangalore has grown its passenger traffic 23% to 11.24 million for calendar 2010 surpassing Chennai to become the third largest airport in the country. For the last five years, Bangalore had been leading Chennai as the third largest in domestic passenger and freight traffic, but this year in May the Bengaluru International Airport has helped the city reach the number three slot in overall passenger traffic." But bold font for fourth or third is uncalled for which i undid [2] in article. Avoided blue (talk) 06:15, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The Bangalore Aviation page is not an official page or a reliable source. That is a website run by a hobbyist/enthusiast. He could have easily made the mistake of comparing the wrong set of data. Since we have official AAI data till Nov 2010, i suggest we use it to make any conclusion[3]--Sodabottle (talk) 12:40, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The page which Abhishek191288 cited was the Bangalore Airport's official website, not a hobbyist's site or anything, but it seems to be broken now, because I guess they have a bad habit of not archiving the press releases. Anyway, the AAI site does not mention BIA's passenger movements in particular. Can anyone provide a source for that if possible? TheMikeWassup doc? 13:08, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The BIAL report only mentions the traffic statistics for Calendar year 2010. As reported here in ET. It did not make any conclusion about BLR being the third largest. That conclusion was drawn by Bangalore aviation, which is not a RS. So we have official sources for the number, but not the conclusion. (i believe the hobbyist was wrong to arrive at such a conclusion by comparing two different sets of numbers)--Sodabottle (talk) 13:16, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, For november 2010 alone Combined Int+dom passenger traffic for BIAL stood at 9,82,411 while for Chennai it was 10,10,983. (i am not drawing any conlusions from these :-))--Sodabottle (talk) 13:22, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, Actually, I've never been in this sort of a situation before, but can we infer from the sources provided that Chennai Airport is busier? It seems a simple inference to make, but I don't know if we can infer from it and include it in the article. I don't think AAI gives out rankings as such to airports. If they did, then problem solved. But if they don't then we could have to remove the whole sentence, which states that it is the fourth busiest or third busiest or whatever. TheMikeWassup doc? 13:39, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That would work too. In the absence of hard official data+rankings, we better say nothing :-)--Sodabottle (talk) 13:41, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Busiest Airport discussions

[edit]
I have added domestic ranking for bangalore airport as it is in top 3 ranks, where chennai is 5th in this regard. No need to mention if much lower rank, either international/domestic. Domestic ranking isnt inferior to inernational numbers. Also the fact that bangalore is third in terms of domestic passengers for many years already, so it is more noteworthy, with higher ranking being more noteworthy. Avoided blue (talk) 06:07, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
For uniformity's sake let the same data points be present across all indian international airports. If you feel something should be added like domestic ranking, add it too. But let the international/overall traffic position stand in all airport articles. --Sodabottle (talk) 07:48, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

But from last 4 year AAI data, no major changes except 1st and 2nd. Its better to remove period information from the articles. --Bijuts (talk) 12:18, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jet Airways 737-700

[edit]

The description of the image says 'Delivery flight to Gander 737-700 Boeing Field - Seattle, WA August 9, 2007' and the flickr page also says its taken at Boeing Field - Seattle, WA. Why this image is repeatedly added removing pics from Chennai in the process? VtTN (talk) 16:02, 27 April 2011 (UTC) VtTN[reply]

Air Asia starts flight to bangkok from chennai

[edit]

Air Asia is starting 5 times a week flight between chennai and bangkok starting some time around mid march. This could be updated in the destinations column. You may find advertisements for the same in newspapers, news websites and Air Asia's website. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.193.60.145 (talk) 03:39, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Jet Airways to New York

[edit]

Its a direct flight(same flight number/ no codeshare) with stopover at Brussels. Then why it should not be there in destination list? VtTN (talk) 05:53, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I second your proposition. Why don't you go ahead with that. I see why not.Thanks. -tausif r (talk) 12:57, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have re-instated JFK as a 9W destination. Please do watch the article and if the vandal does it again, we may have to request for a page protection. Cheers!  Abhishek  Talk 13:08, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It should be listed as a destination. There is no change of aircraft at Brussels but it might have something to do with Brussels being a international hub for Jet Airways (as WP:AIRPORT states that thru-hub directs should not be listed but it only says "domestic hub"). Statistics section

[edit]

Hello my dear Wikipedians, citizens of Wikipedia,

I have added a statistics section to Chennai International Airport, dealing with the busiest international and domestic destinations from the airport. It would be nice if some else could help me update it yearly or quarterly, depending on how Chennai Airport and the Indian govt publishes its data.

Sincerely,

T Iamtrini (talk) 19:21, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Indian map is distorted to exclude some regions of union territories Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh

[edit]

The picture of Indian map showing the location of Chennai airport is a wrong one and excludes certain regions in the northern part of India. These regions belong to the union territories of India namely Jammu &shmir ad Ladakh. Please fix the picture at the earliest.n 2409:40C0:63:7CD9:54DF:2BFF:FEAE:375B (talk) 22:11, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'll be taking this review for the WikiCup and the ongoing backlog drive; please consider participating in the latter especially. Comments to follow shortly. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 12:47, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@AirshipJungleman29, Thanks for taking this up. I will address the comments as they come. Also, a note beforehand. This is my first GA nomination of an airport article, so do let me know if there are specific comments to be handled. Being an article related to an airport, there has been regular changes in destinations served, and the corresponding citations, which might need updation as the nomination was done long back. M2 (talk) 13:06, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Magentic Manifestations, my first point is about the large and detailed "Airlines and destinations" section. This project-wide RfC at the Village Pump concluded that such tables should only be included when such information is DUE i.e. when the information has been summarised as a group by reliable sources. I would prefer that such a section was sourced to one reliable source, which listed all the destinations, rather than over 100 news articles. Is that possible? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 15:42, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
