Fossil range

[edit]

I think Chondrosteans lived since the Carboniferous. In my opinion Palaeoniscus who lived during the Carboniferous of France was a Chondrostean. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.121.145.92 (talk) 20:14, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

new page

[edit]

Quite why this page was linked from, yet redirected back to Actinopterygii may remain a mystery.

However I am no fish expert - I created some text in order to fill the gap - hopefully some expert will come and do more work on it soon. Apologies for any mistakes made.HappyVR 02:26, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Possible new stub and stub category

[edit]

Hi fellows. Please, be so kind and take a look at this proposal to create the Template:Chondrostei-stub and the corresponding Category:Chondrostei stubs. Regards, --Fabio Descalzi, aka Fadesga (talk) 21:37, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bichirs (order Polypteriformes) are in the Subclass Cladistia

[edit]

Ok, what the hell, half of the random sources I find through google say that bichirs are in the subclass Cladistia while the other half say that bichirs are in the subclass Chondrostei. The way I learned it, bichirs are in the subclass Cladistia. The way a cladogram of actinopterygian lineages shows it, bichirs are clearly more basal than the chondrosteans and there is no way that this has anything to do with Chondrostei being a paraphyletic group. Does anyone have any idea what is going on here?

P.S. I've never edited a Wikipedia page before, but this was such a mystery to me that I really had to say something about it. If a more experienced user could somehow direct this someone who could help, that would be great. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.189.4.213 (talk) 01:26, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
