Team name

[edit]

Actually, some news outlets are reporting the name as Luczo Dragon Racing/de Ferran Motorsports, but I think it's best to wait and see what's on the St. Pete entry list instead of moving the page multiple times. EeepEeep (talk) 18:39, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Date format

[edit]

As this is a US-based motorsport team, this article should have a date format of month-day-year per MOS:DATETIES. I'm changing it to use mdy, which was the original date format used in this article. Balon Greyjoy (talk) 19:56, 15 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

American or French?

[edit]

@WikiCleanerMan and Cerebral726: and I'll leave a talkback for 188.143.109.163. Please discuss the proposed changes to the article here, thank you. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 16:11, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It IS American, just French-owned. - 188.143.109.163 (talk) 16:13, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

See also Terrafugia, which is listed as a "Chinese-owned corporation, based in Woburn, Massachusetts, United States". - 188.143.109.163 (talk) 16:15, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

French-owned

[edit]

In 2022, the French company DS Automobiles bought the team, though the team itself is still based in LA (I want it to be changed to "French-owned, American-based") 188.143.109.163 (talk) 16:11, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dear @WikiCleanerMan:, here is the proof of French ownership. https://www.fiaformulae.com/en/teams/e05ede6d-d065-497b-a298-85afeeeb2ab1/ds-penske

The ownership of a corporation does not matter a jot when it comes to nationality, which, if anything, is based on where it is incorporated. I see that this one self-describes as American (hit "about" and "team"). Phil Bridger (talk) 19:28, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I also found this article which describes them as Franco-American and this one uses French-American. I am happy with "French and American auto racing team". It seems the most accurate. Cerebral726 (talk) 19:34, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

When competing in international events, the team uses the French flag rather than the American one, this can be best seen on the official website of the FIA Formula E Championship: https://www.fiaformulae.com/en/teams/e05ede6d-d065-497b-a298-85afeeeb2ab1/ds-penske - 78.131.72.186 (talk) 19:36, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

On the about->team section of their own website, it appears to describe them as an American team that has entered a 4-year strategic partnership with DS Auto. Why would it only be 4 years if DS bought them? --Onorem (talk) 19:47, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Delete the nationality altogether

[edit]

If we can't agree let's just delete the nationality altogether. 78.131.72.186 (talk) 18:35, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That would seem to be the best path. We can say where this is based and who owns it, which are more important than the nationality. Phil Bridger (talk) 19:33, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The team competes under a French racing license. - 92.249.247.166 (talk) 19:24, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Change the US flag in the infobox to the French flag. Infobox flag is supposed to be the country that the team represents, not the country the team is based in - see also Red Bull Racing.

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit semi-protected}} template. RudolfRed (talk) 20:45, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think the current change (see Red Bull Racing, listed as "a Formula One racing team, racing under an Austrian licence and based in the United Kingdom") will be good. --2A01:36D:1200:44AE:45CD:FB9C:A8A7:FB38 (talk) 07:53, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
