Spelling of first name

[edit]

For some reason the name was spelled throughout as "Dennis" although he used the common Irish and English spelling of the time, "Denis." I have changed this where I saw it.Sallieparker (talk) 01:40, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've done a little research into the matter, including looking at book titles on him going back to the 19th Century. It appears that both spellings were used in reference to him, even back in his day. Not sure what he used himself. I nonetheless have changed everything on Wikipedia to "Denis", since a Google Search, including Google Books, indicates that's slightly the more common usage.
