Timeline Template is Inaccessible as Graphical Info

[edit]

The "Timeline" portion of the article is a graphic, which makes it impossible for those who cannot process graphics -- in particular, the blind and partially sighted, for text-in-graphics tends to become less clear the larger the graphic is displayed -- to obtain the information contained in the Timeline.

use of this template should be discontinued and replaced by actual text contained in a timeline whose layout is controlled by CSS oedipus (talk) 22:46, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A challenge! Did you mean something like this, using Template:Graphical timeline rather than Wikipedia:EasyTimeline:
Old timeline New timeline
I can see that having this as text (rather than as a graphic) is an improvement, but it is a bit bigger and doesn't seem to want to start with the lower years (1664) at the top. No doubt this can be improved to use sidebars to show at a glance when he was in India or France, or working on various projects. There are some other examples, such as Template:Joan of Arc graphical timeline. -- Ferma (talk) 19:23, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
