[edit]Figure 81 in "The Archaeology of Weapons: Arms and Armor from Prehistory to the Age of Chivalry" by R. Ewart Oakeshott [1] is from the Codex Aureus of Echternach, 1030-1050AD, The Gospel of Otto III, Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg, Germany. [2]
The Codex Aureus of Echternach (Codex aureus Epternacensis) is an 11th-century illuminated Gospel Book, created in the approximate period 1030-1050, with a re-used front cover from around the 980s. Only the cover is 10th century!
