IF anyone has enough interest in an article to place references that can be used in articles in the "External Links" area, they must have enough time-- if not then, than later, to use them as refs to create a good article! External links isn't a parking lot for information! --leahtwosaints (talk) 01:35, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your work on expanding and improving this article. :) Mudwater (Talk) 00:58, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are too kind. I fear I don't know much about Oteil, but drifted here from putting some photos on Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks and writing an introduction to Trucks with a little more information. :) --leahtwosaints (talk) 10:10, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted the part with the story about Tal Wilkenfield. Oteil did not play at the Crossroads Festival at all that I know of (I was there). In addition the article previously stated that this festival took place in 2006. The two instances of the festival have been in 2004 and 2007. It also seemed to imply that Oteil is or was a member of the Derek Trucks Band, which he never has been. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.201.208.130 (talk) 22:29, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, it's not about Crossroads. Tal met with the Allman Bros. and jammed with them, and I know Ron Holloway was there, of Susan Tedeschi's band, (he told me that). But she put on a bass clinic, got to know Oteil (I mean, two bass players, of course), but befriended one another, and on her debut album before Crossroads, when she was only 20, one of the songs is called "Oatmeal Bandage", and is about him. No words; it's jazz, but it's in an interview on her page, and they are friends- she did a bass clinic while there too. But I don't think she would be listed under "Associated acts" if that's what you mean. Sorry, I didn't have this on my watch list, just came through to put new photos up and add it to my "to do" list. --leahtwosaints (talk) 22:19, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The External links section should be limited to a very short list of websites that are highly related to the article's subject. For a musician this would generally include the official web site(s) for the musician or their band, and perhaps a few other sites. See for example Rush (band), Flea (musician), and Radiohead, all of which are featured articles. Per Wikipedia:External links#References and citation, "Sites that have been used as sources in the creation of an article should be cited in the article, and linked as references, either in-line or in a references section. Links to these source sites are not 'external links' for the purposes of this guideline, and should not be placed in an external links section." As an additional point, references can also serve the purpose of establishing the notability of the subject of an article. I understand that this article could be improved significantly by further using the existing references as source material. But, the references for this article should still be listed in a References section, not an External links section. Mudwater (Talk) 02:26, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BK3

[edit]

We need information in the article about Burbridge's involvement with the BK3-- how he became a member, etc. I had no idea that that band ever existed! A little help, please? --leahtwosaints (talk) 18:10, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Equipment and other effects

[edit]

From time to time, I've added small bits to this article; primarily photos since that's the kind of work I do alongside editing. I am fairly amazed to see that nobody has assembled a section on Burbridge's instruments and other effects. There are plenty of photos in Commons I uploaded over the last few years that would easily demonstrate the text, so, hopefully this will encourage another editor to add actually to any section in the article since I'm pretty much laid up sick right now! Thank you. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 10:08, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
