Constant Editing

[edit]

Why is it necessary to include which team he hit a home run against in his climb up the top home run hitters in baseball?

\Needs work. Lots of work. ;) Any baseball afficianados out there? --Dante Alighieri 22:58 19 May 2003 (UTC)

      • CBS SportsLine.com reports: "Rafael Palmeiro hasn't spoken publicly for months and did not return several phone calls made by AP. He evidently hasn't had much conversation with his former teammates, either. "I haven't talked to Raffy and I don't want to talk to Raffy," third baseman Melvin Mora said. "When you don't know what happened in your life, you cannot blame it on somebody else. You need to know how to take your own responsibility."

Wikipedia bug?

[edit]

Sorry to make 3 edits Category:People from Cuba|Palmeiro, Rafael]] Now the record shows that this in a row but I was confused by something. When I went to look back at my edit and compare it to the previous version, it made it look like I had removed the following line:

[[Category:People from Cuba|Palmeiro, Rafael]]

Now the record shows that this line was removeCategory:People from Cuba|Palmeiro, Rafael]]

Now the record shows that this d in the edit prior to mine but at the time, for reasons incomprehensible to me, the comparison between my edit and the one prior made it look like it was ME who removed the line. I then added it back, not wanting to remove any pertinent categories from the list, at which point I noticed that it was an empty category so I removed it "again". Now it looks like it was removed in the edit before mine and it wasn't added again until my second edit. Argh. - confusing.

Is this some sort of bug in Wikipedia?

  • The Steroid Scandal
With Palmeiro recently becoming the highest profile player of all time to test positive for steroids, a section should be devoted to it.

Rumors

[edit]

67.173.190.216 has added the rumor about Palmeiro sleeping with Ryne Sandberg's wife. This is, as far as I know, just an old rumor that may or may not be true and thus doesn't really belong here. I'm removing it for now. --W.marsh 20:58, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Current tag

[edit]

Is it really necessary to have a current tag? Palmeiro cannot appeal his suspension, so there's nothing more to add there as far as new developments are concerned. --Nlu 03:49, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. You might as well put current tags on every active MLB player who's taken steroids or suspected of taking steroids

Steroid use

[edit]

These statements: During 2002 and 2003, the relatively low-profile Palmeiro became more visible on national TV, as a spokesman for Viagra and Impotence is a symptom associated with anabolic steroid use, seem to suggest that because Palmeiro is impotent, that he is a steroid user. While it's true that some steroid users become impotent, it doesn't mean that all impotent people are steroid users. I think those statements should be taken out.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Maimone (talkcontribs)

Yeh, except that he was a steroid user. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 17:35, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, but you can't just assume that he became impotent from using steroids. He could be impotent from riding his bike or from excessive alcohol and cigarette use. Baldness is a symptom of steroid use as well, but I wouldn't go so far to suggest that he is clean because he has hair. I'm not arguing whether or not he used steroids, rather that by putting the two statements (that I pointed out earlier) together implies that using steroids was the cause of Palmeiro's impotence. Maimone (talk) 16:14, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's very possible that Palmeiro is a stallion, has no ED, and the makers of Viagra made him an offer he couldn't refuse. What better way to get a regular guy to admit ED if you have a tough guy jock to say he uses Viagra? Palmeiro wasn't exactly on the Wheaties boxes, and it probably paid him better than baseball did. Googie man (talk) 16:53, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt it, but if that claim (as well as the other one) cannot be sourced, then they shouldn't be included in the article. Maimone (talk) 12:42, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
