Crete is the largest of the Greek Islands and the largest in the Mediterranean. Largest in the Mediterranean except for Cyprus, Sardinia, Sicily, and Corsica. Sicily is the largest island in the Med. Grutness|hello? 22:18, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)

The Sea of Crete is more accurately in the Aegean Sea rather than the Mediterranean (though, granted, the Aegean is really just an arm of the Mediterranean. Indrian 00:51, May 8, 2005 (UTC) THE SEA OF CRETE SURRONDS ATHENS GREECE

I agree - the Sea of Crete is part of the Aegean Sea, not equal to it as a subdivision of the Mediterranean Sea. I made the necessary correction to the text. As for the uncredited edition "THE SEA OF CRETE SURRONDS ATHENS GREECE" - not true. Athens, or more precisely Attica peninsula is surrounded by the Saronic Gulf (to the SW) - itself North of Myrtoan Sea, and the Petalioi Gulf (to the East), with the Kea Strait (to the SE of Cape Sounion) dividing them.--Bobbylon (talk) 02:58, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
