Redirect page

[edit]

I hope this doesn't seem too presumptuous, but I set a redirect to this page from "The Beaches". I figured that since the name has been decided in a local vote, retaining the old name may itself smack of POV-ism at this point. Hence the switch to this new page, but without the histrionics that 142.240.200.10 has typically added in the past.

If you think I was wrong for doing so, let me know, and revert away. Expect a good discussion on the issue though.

And just for the record, I was for the plural form of the name (and voted accordingly). Captmondo 18:22, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kudos for being bold! But given the controversy, I think going the way of Wikipedia:Requested moves would have been far preferable. The BIA vote is arguably not determinative -- I suspect people will have strong opinions about this, and even the BIA is saying that the vote was to decide street sign names, nothing more.

I don't have a strong opinion on the speedy delete of The Beach (Toronto), but I do strongly believe that The Beaches should not be merged until consensus has been obtained that the merger is appropriate. Skeezix1000 19:59, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
