[edit]

Hello, thank you for your input. For your information the Wikipedia:WikiProject Baiting link is the main page for this template. Please note I was the creator of the template. Cordially SirIsaacBrock 16:38, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You can't link to non-encyclopedic content in templates meant to be used in articles. Wikipedia:WikiProject Baiting is not meant to be an article, but something to assist editors in writing articles on baiting. A template meant to link the different topics of baiting together should have baiting as the main link, not the non-encyclopedic WikiProject. Please read through Wikipedia:Avoid_self-references. —Nightstallion (?) Seen this already? 18:38, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nightstallion is correct. Article space should not link to Wikipedia space, unless it is absolutely necessary to explain what the template means, e.g. on Wikipedia maintenance templates like {{POV}}. This is a navigation template. Also, both of you are approaching 3RR, so quit edit warring or I may be forced to block one or both of you. --Sam Blanning(talk) 18:59, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That was precisely the reason for my post at WP:AN/I. I tend to watch my WP:3RR limits. ;) —Nightstallion (?) Seen this already? 19:25, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
For what it's worth, I concur with Nightstallion. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 21:11, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nightstallion's interpretation of policy is absolutely correct here. —BorgHunter ubx (talk) 22:41, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
May I suggest that you create a Portal:Baiting? {{portal}} shortcuts are perfectly valid. Misza13 T C 19:03, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bait vs. Baiting

[edit]

I'm being bold and changing the title of the box from "Bait" to "Baiting", although it has changed back and forth before without discussion. The main reason is that "baiting" is unambiguous, whereas "bait" is known primarily as what you lure fish with when fishing as per this dictionary entry. hateless 02:08, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dog fighting

[edit]

All of the animals listed in this template are captured and/or killed by Catch dogs, except for dog fighting, which involves two dogs that are trained and bred specifically for fighting. Dog fighting is already listed on the Template:Humane Society, where it belongs. I suggest that "dog fighting" should be removed from this template. --Tacosunday (talk) 21:50, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dog fighting is a baiting sport and should stay in the template. The template is to allow people to find the different types of baiting bloodsports. I have added Catch dogs to the Category:Baiting, so it can be easily found by users. Green Squares (talk) 23:01, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Should this template be added to the category sports templates?

[edit]

These activities are illegal in many areas of the world, but are they still considered sports? See illegal sports and blood sports. Sorry that all I can do is pose the question! Oh, and there's also Media related to baiting at Wikimedia Commons. You could add that to the end of this template like other such templates do, perhaps also adding the two articles I mention above and some relevant WP categories. Thanks in advance, --Geekdiva (talk) 19:19, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
