Removed pentagram image, this is highly offensive to some religious groups. --Librarian Brent 02:00, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)

All right then, put up an image that dosen't offend, like a wand or a wizards hat. Don't just leave a blank. 198.164.135.20 14:13, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I think something like Mickey's Magical hat would fit quite nicely. --[[User:AllyUnion|AllyUnion (talk)]] 08:33, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Does this stub include magic (paranormal)?

[edit]

Does this stub include magick? If so, a pentacle may be an appropriate image for the stub. Also, if so, I'll be going through several divination related articles and changing Stub to Magic-stub. --Morningstar2651 16:52, Feb 7, 2005 (UTC)

There's a distinction between what's offensive and what offends some people. A wizard's hat and a wand would also be likely to offend some religious people, as would the inclusion of any article dealing with magic. I'd stick with the pentagram; it's relevant to the subject, simple, and easily recognisable. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 23:39, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Using a wizard's hat as shorthand for 'real' magic is about as accurate as using Santa as a shorthand for Christianity. A pentacle or wand would both be fairly simple and obvious symbols, and the latter has the benefit of not being offensive to those who like getting offended. -Sean Curtin 04:49, Feb 12, 2005 (UTC)

A pentacle makes a lot more sense than wands and hats. Articles about magic would already offend overly religious people, anyway. With or without the pentacle. And even more, this sort of discussion is very POV by nature. Remember that the Wikipedia's maximum is NPOV. --Sn0wflake 23:08, 12 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I replaced the pentacle since there don't appear to be any objections. --Morningstar2651 06:19, Feb 15, 2005 (UTC)

Stage magic vs. occult

[edit]

This stub message links to magic (paranormal). However, it is being used on stubs such as sleight of hand that have nothing to do with "paranormal" or ritual / occult / religious magic(k), and everything to do with stage magic. Confuse! Sleight of hand and Max Maven simply do not fit in the same category as Babalon Working and Hermeticism.

Either way is fine -- although it seems to me that an "Occult-stub" would be better for the ritual-magick bits, leaving "Magic-stub" for the stage-magic ones. For that matter, we can keep the pentacle as the icon for Occult-stub while using, say, a top hat or rabbit for Magic-stub.

And we also have a Para-stub for "parapsychology", but everyone knows that doesn't exist:

{{para-stub}}

Any objections? --FOo 07:33, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)
