Improving Navigation to Women's football Articles

On 22 June 2006, User:Johan_Elisson replaced (via redirect) the Women's football template with Template:International women's football, a newly-created template, apparently in an effort to mimic the men's international football template.

Johan's new template is for a very limited, specific sub-topic of women's football. The International template ignores local, non-FIFA, U-17, U-20 football and women's national teams. It deleted some navigational links to general/non-international women's football articles and added others. The major change was not discussed with the community beforehand. Nor were contributors notified.

This discussion is an opportunity for all interested editors to give input about the remedy proposed below.

PROPOSAL

Restore the Women's football template for use on articles relevant to this subject.
Add the FIFA World Player of the Year#List of female winners link to the Women's football template.
Keep the International women's football template for use on articles relevant to this subject.
