Tumushuke(Tumxuk) Tangwangcheng Airport (IATA: TWC, ICAO: ZWTS) is an airport serving the city of Tumxuk (Tumushuke) in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of northwestern China. It is located 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from the city center, and also serves the nearby counties of Maralbexi and Kalpin.[1][2]

History

The airport received approval from the State Council of China and the Central Military Commission in January 2014.[1] Construction officially began on 12 March 2016, with a total investment of 631 million yuan,[2] and the airport was opened on 26 December 2018 with an inaugural China Southern Airlines flight from Ürümqi.[3] It is the second airport built and managed by the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps,[1] and the 21st civil airport in Xinjiang.[2]

The airport occupies an area of 141.93 hectares (350.7 acres). It has a runway that is 2,600 metres (8,500 ft) long and 45 metres (148 ft) wide, and a 5,880 square metres (63,300 sq ft) terminal building.[2]
