AFC Coaching Changes since 2005:

Buffalo Bills (5-11): Head coach Mike Mularkey (14-18) resigned from the Bills after the 2005 season. Former Chicago Bears head coach and most recently the interim head coach of the Detroit Lions, Dick Jauron was named the new Bills head coach on January 24, 2006. Mularkey has since been a coach on the Miami Dolphins, serving as offensive coordinator and tight ends coach.
Houston Texans (2-14): Head coach Dom Capers (18-46) was fired from the Texans following the 2005 season. Gary Kubiak, the offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos became the team's new head coach on January 26, 2006. Capers has since served as the defensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins.
Kansas City Chiefs (10-6): Head coach Dick Vermeil (125-114 Career, 44-36 Chiefs) announced his retirement at the end of the 2005 season. The Chiefs hired New York Jets head coach Herman Edwards to replace Vermeil on January 9, 2006, in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick.
New York Jets (4-12): The Jets released head coach Herman Edwards from his contract and allowed him to sign as the new head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick from the Chiefs. The Jets then signed Eric Mangini, the defensive coordinator of the New England Patriots, as the team's head coach on January 18, 2006.
Oakland Raiders (4-12): Head coach Norv Turner (59-83-1 Career, 9-23 Radiers) was fired after two seasons in 2005. He was replaced with former Raiders head coach Art Shell, who went 2-14 with the team (58-55 Career) in 2006 and was fired after one season. Former USC offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin became the new Raiders head coach on January 23, 2007. Turner served as the offensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers in 2006 and became the head coach of the San Diego Chargers in 2007. Shell is now retired.
San Diego Chargers (14-2): After coordinators Cam Cameron and Wade Phillips left to become head coaches of the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys, respectively, after the 2006 season, the Chargers fired head coach Marty Schottenheimer (205-139-1 Career, 47-35 Chargers). Norv Turner, the offensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers was named the new head coach of the Chargers on February 19, 2007. Schottenheimer is currently an NFL television broadcaster.
Miami Dolphins (6-10): Head coach Nick Saban (15-17) left the Dolphins after the 2006 season to become the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Cam Cameron, the offensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers replaced him as head coach in January 2007.
Pittsburgh Steelers (8-8): Head coach Bill Cowher (161-99-1) resigned from the Steelers after the 2006 season. Steelers named Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin as the team's new head coach on January 21, 2007. Cowher is currently a television commentator, though he is expected to coach in the NFL again in 2008.

NFC Coaching Changes since 2005:

Detroit Lions (5-11): Steve Mariucci (75-71 Career, 15-28 Lions, 4-7 Season) was fired midseason in 2005 and Dick Jauron (1-4) served as interim coach for the remainder of the season. Lions hired Rod Marinelli, the assistant head/defensive line coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the new head coach on January 18, 2006. Mariucci is now a commentator on the NFL Network, Jauron is the head coach of the Buffalo Bills.
Green Bay Packers (4-12): Head coach Mike Sherman (59-43) was fired after the 2005 season. The Packers replaced him with Mike McCarthy, the offensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers. Sherman is now the assistant head coach/offensive coordinator of the Houston Texans.
Minnesota Vikings (9-7): Head coach Mike Tice (33-34) was fired after the 2005 season. The Vikings replaced him with Brad Childress, the offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles. Tice is currently the assistant head coach/offense for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
New Orleans Saints (3-13): Head coach Jim Haslett (46-52) was fired after the 2005 season. He was replaced with Sean Payton, a Dallas Cowboys assistant head/quarterbacks coach. Haslett is now the defensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams.
St. Louis Rams (6-10): Ailing Mike Martz (56-36 Career, 2-3 Season) was replaced by interim coach Joe Vitt (4-7) midseason in 2005. Scott Linehan, previously the Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator was named new Rams head coach January 19, 2006. Martz is now the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, Vitt is the assistant head/linebackers coach of the New Orleans Saints.
Arizona Cardinals (5-11): Dennis Green (117-102 Career, 16-32 Cardinals) was fired as head coach after the 2006 season. Ken Whisenhunt, the offensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers, was named the new Cardinals head coach on January 14, 2007. Green is now an NFL radio broadcaster.
Atlanta Falcons (7-9): The Falcons fired Jim L. Mora (27-23) after the 2006 season and contracted the college head coach of the Louisville Cardinals Bobby Petrino to become the team's new head coach on January 7, 2007. Mora is now assistant head/defensive backs coach of the Seattle Seahawks.
Dallas Cowboys (9-7): Head coach Bill Parcells (183-138-1 Career, 34-32 Cowboys) announced his retirement after the 2006 season. The Cowboys named San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator Wade Phillips as the team's new head coach on February 7, 2007.
