Ohio High School Athletic Conferences

[edit]

Most of the info on the defunct conferences comes from various newspaper articles (either on Newspapers.com or NewspaperArchive.com). At one point I had a good list of reference links I intended to put on the Wiki pages, but that may have been lost when my old laptop died (there may be some links on the files on my new laptop, but I don't have access to that right now). The whole project started as an offshoot of researching defunct Indiana HS conferences, then took a bit of a life of its own. Mtndrums (talk) 14:15, 9 January 2017 (UTC) Thanks, I made a few updates a while ago and was curious.Jb45424 (talk) 05:22, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

I have created two categories: Category:Minor League Baseball in Dayton, Ohio and Category:Ice Hockey in Dayton, Ohio. I realize now it should be Category:Minor league baseball in Dayton, Ohio and Category:Ice hockey in Dayton, Ohio. My inclination is to create the two alternate categories, change the links on the affected pages, and then delete the original categories. Would this be the proper way to go about it? There are only about 30 pages in total that would need to be changed, so it would not be a big deal. Thanks. Jb45424 (talk) 03:29, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There is a better way. I've used {{Category redirect}}
A bot (automated process) should automagically change the articles, probably within a day.
If it fails - no worries, we can do it manually.
If it all goes horribly wrong, you can blame me.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Laura Margolis Jarblum, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Halutz. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

My computer literally snapped in half recently so I'm in a bit of holding pattern here. Sorry that I've been incommunicado. Please feel free to ask for my help--I'm just sorry that I can't give it anytime in the next several days. It's easy for me to make the occasional edit here and there but very cumbersome to engage in any bigger project. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 23:39, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I hate it when I do stupid shit, especially when I can't fix it.

The article David Wilson (defensive back) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. RileyBugz会話投稿記録 20:26, 27 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@RileyBugz: - It is my understanding the references in the Infobox are sufficient. Jb45424 (talk) 00:08, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about that. I do think, although, that you should actually use inline citations in the article. RileyBugz会話投稿記録 15:08, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Category:Baseball people from Chicago, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for Deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discusion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. ...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 15:50, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Native Americans in Ohio

[edit]

Thank you for the help with this, and sorry for you having to deal with that. I know I tend to ramble. But, I've been working on this topic for a while & I've been trying to consolidate everything I know into set places. A lot of pages on Wikipedia concerning Native American studies are almost set up as if whoever is searching should already know what they're looking for beforehand and there's a lot of conflicting information overall. But I am going to try to change up a couple more things in that section, along with adding references. I really want to do this justice, seeing that this seems like a piece of history a lot of Ohioans don't understand very well. Bobbotronica (talk) 13:52, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry again. Decided to take your advice & work on this piece by piece. Thanks for the help so far. I wasn't entirely sure if citing other Wiki pages would be ok, or not but I'm glad that's cleared up. So, did a paragraph on the Mosopelea. I have a picture of the map that I was able to find, but it involved blowing up the image & copying. I was able to do this well enough to read the relevant information, but I'm having trouble uploading it to the page.Bobbotronica (talk) 14:34, 5 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Chicago Bruisers

[edit]

Should we remove the other categories too. I've removed the cats in the past on other pages but someone adds them back sometimes. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 02:50, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I had not really thought about that but, yes, you're correct, it looks like all the other categories should be removed as well for the same reason. Thanks for picking up on that. Jb45424 (talk) 11:07, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
