Possible OTD and POTD clash on 9 April?

Hi Amakuru, I'm hoping that National Gallery will be able to appear on On This Day on Tuesday, with an image to illustrate it – see Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/April 9. That day's Picture of the Day will be of the Maison carrée – see Template:POTD/2024-04-09. That's another classical building with a portico; will the two images be too similar? Would it be acceptable for the contents of Template:POTD/2024-04-11 and Template:POTD/2024-04-09 to swap places? Ham II (talk) 09:16, 6 April 2024 (UTC)

@Ham II: oh yes, that makes sense, good spot. I've gone ahead and done that swap as you suggested. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 09:56, 6 April 2024 (UTC)

April music

story · music · places

I like to see Appalachian Spring on the Main page today (not by me, just interested and reviewed), and I also made it my story. - How do you like the statue (see places)? I was undecided so show three versions ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:10, 6 April 2024 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt: that's very nice, thank you. Looks like an interesting place! Probably the second pic is my favourite, it shows some of the landscape behind while also having the statue prominently. This has reminded me about when I lived in Aachen as a child and we used to go on walks quite often, either up the de:Haarberg (Aachen), where a large cross was to be found (File:Haarener Kreuz.JPG), or up the Vaalserberg, home of the Dreiländereck where you could be in Germany, Netherlands and Belgium all at the same time. So many nice places to see!  — Amakuru (talk) 20:53, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
Thank you! - Today I see Marian Anderson as my top story (by NBC, 1939), and below three people with raised arms, - and the place is the cherry blossom in Frauenstein where I enjoyed Easter Monday - a mostly rainy day which doesn't show ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:27, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
My story today is about a piece composed for the Second Sunday after Easter 300 years ago, and I just returned from a (long) opera about the same age. - Thank you for posting Joe Viera to RD, - I wouldn't mind credit ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:57, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
Did you see my little question? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:18, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: ah apologies, I was out and about yesterday when I posted the Viera RD, so didn't fully read what you'd written. Sorry about that! I've done the credits now. Will also have a look at your stories! Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 11:21, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
no problem, it's easily fixed - birthdays music today (see my talk) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:56, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
images of a flock of sheep that I met by chance on the 300th birthday of cantata Du Hirte Israel, höre, BWV 104 --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:32, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
today a sad task - memory of Andrew Davis - turned into entertainment (yt at the bottom of his article, actually both) -- the latest pictures capture extreme weather --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:40, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
today you can look at the last three stories or "music" on my talk: the same topics, Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Samuel Kummer and (pictured) one row of 8 double basses and another of 5 bassists ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:38, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

Madagascar stonechat

Thanks for all the POTD work; this one is listed for 25 April and 3 May. Best wishes Charlesjsharp (talk) 08:36, 8 April 2024 (UTC)

@Charlesjsharp: oh yes, so I did. Sorry about that. I have my own list and little app that I use to figure out what needs scheduling and I had forgotten to update it that I'd already selected Madagascar stonechat on another day... And BTW thanks again to you for all the lovely pictures you submit here!  — Amakuru (talk) 12:27, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

MRT Line 6

I believe that there is only one MRT Line 6 in the world and there is no other MRT Line 6 in Wikipedia. Manila has LRT Line 6 and LRT and MRT is not same. There is no way people will be confused. I think (and we should) the page move should be reverted. Mehedi Abedin 10:11, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

I would agree. GucciNuzayer (talk) 20:43, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
@Mehediabedin, I second this and made the move myself. X (talk) 18:12, 11 May 2024 (UTC)

Organoid intelligence: Special Thanks

Hello, I am the original writer of the "Organoid Intelligence" page. I just wanted say, thank you so so much for changing Organoid Intelligence to Organoid intelligence. By the time I realised that I published the page with a significant naming convention error, it was too late. And despite trying a lot, I could not figure out how to change the name. I even left a Talk page for some time hoping someone else would do it but no one did. And the issue really irritated me. I know it might seem silly, but it made me very happy. So, thank you! WikiCup 2024 April newsletter

We are approaching the end of the 2024 WikiCup's second round, with a little over two weeks remaining. Currently, contestants must score at least 105 points to progress to the third round.

Our current top scorers are as follows:

Competitors may submit work for the second round until the end of 28 April, and the third round starts 1 May. Remember that only competitors with the top 32 scores will make it through to the third round. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs. As a reminder, competitors are strictly prohibited from gaming Wikipedia policies or processes to receive more points.

If you would like to learn more about rules and scoring for the 2024 WikiCup, please read Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. Further questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. Why don't you fix? Dicklyon (talk) 16:00, 12 April 2024 (UTC)

@Dicklyon: there's still one of the three entries that's capitalised, so it might still be the correct thing to do to maintain the disambiguation page at the capitalised name too? I can't remember what the default is with that. Anyway it might be worth (a) filing a move request for KHL Conference Finals and (b) getting buy in from those who reverted the move of that disambiguation page already, rather than us beginning another move ear on this...  — Amakuru (talk) 16:13, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
When you capped it, you noted only one currently lowercase, so I figure with majority lowercase, that would be different now. Anyway, I'll just ignore it if nobody cares, as I'm ignoring the KHL move after telling GoodDay I'd leave to him and the project. Sort of a monument to obstruction. Dicklyon (talk) 20:16, 12 April 2024 (UTC)

Question about move

Hello friend. Regarding this, I am wondering why the close of Talk:Iranian consulate airstrike in Damascus#Requested move 2 April 2024 isn't being implemented? If I'm reading that correctly, the article should be at Israeli bombing of the Iranian embassy in Damascus. –Novem Linguae (talk) 11:01, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

@Novem Linguae: - thanks for your note, and I have left a comment on the article talk page about this. The title moved to, as requested as RM/TR, was the original title and given that there was no consensus for a move in the recent RM, that prior title has now been restored per WP:RMUM. If you wish for the bold change to be reinstated, then a fresh RM is the way to go for that. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 11:07, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

Happy Adminship Anniversary!

Happy Adminship Anniversary!

@The Herald and Nagol0929: many thanks to both of you, the greetings are much appreciated!

Double eagles

Hi Amakuru, I just made an edit to Double eagle shifting a ref you added in 2018. Just inquiring if you remember whether Bowers 2004 pg.284 was also meant to support "when the official price of gold was changed to $35/oz by the Gold Reserve Act". Best, CMD (talk) 01:53, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

FC Barca 6-1 article

Well, Crowsus reverted again, so I've basically given up hope that discussion would bear fruit. I went ahead and filed an edit warring report. Fred Zepelin (talk) 20:24, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

WikiCup 2024 May newsletter

The second round of the 2024 WikiCup ended on 28 April. This round was particularly competitive: each of the 32 contestants who advanced to Round 3 scored at least 141 points. This is the highest number of points required to advance to Round 3 since 2014.

The following scorers in Round 2 all scored more than 500 points:

The full scores for Round 2 can be seen here. So far this year, competitors have gotten 18 featured articles, 22 featured lists, and 186 good articles, 76 in the news credits and at least 200 did you know credits. They have conducted 165 featured article reviews, as well as 399 good article reviews and peer reviews, and have added 21 articles to featured topics and good topics.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed during Round 3, which starts on 1 May at 00:00 (UTC). Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.

Two Greenville, NC Metropolitan area pages

Hi Amakuru, there are currently two pages on the same topic, the Greenville, NC Combined Metropolitan area--Greenville, NC CSA and Greenville-Kinston-Washington CSA. One looks like a landing page with no new or unique content. This may have been created (possibly in error) after the CBSA definitions and names were updated in 2023. I want to create an infobox like I've been doing and you've been monitoring, but do not want to duplicate efforts and add confusion. Can we combine the two pages? Let me know what I need to do. Email

Greetings, Amakuru. I understand your busy schedule. But I am still waiting for your response to my last email to you. Regards! Maliner (talk) 17:08, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

@Maliner: ah, I do beg your pardon. I will try to get to it tonight or tomorrow. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 17:09, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your response. I will surely wait for it. Maliner (talk) 17:11, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for your email response. I have received it. Maliner (talk) 09:22, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

RFA2024 update: phase I concluded, phase II begins

Hi there! Phase I of the Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review has concluded, with several impactful changes gaining community consensus and proceeding to various stages of implementation. Some proposals will be implemented in full outright; others will be discussed at phase II before being implemented; and still others will proceed on a trial basis before being brought to phase II. The following proposals have gained consensus:

See the project page for a full list of proposals and their outcomes. A huge thank-you to everyone who has participated so far :) looking forward to seeing lots of hard work become a reality in phase II. theleekycauldron (talk), via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:08, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
