Re: Frederick Douglass edit
[edit]Hi. I see that you changed the lede on the Douglass article. I was wondering why you deleted "He stood as a living counter-example to slaveholders' arguments that slaves did not have the intellectual capacity to function as independent American citizens." I've made the Douglass article a pet project of mine (I live 3 miles from where he was born). I wrote that sentence.
I made major edits to the lede some months ago, as it had been tagged for some time as having an inadequate lede. I'd never edited a lede of a major article before, and I tried my best to give an overview and to make a powerful argument as to why Douglass' life is important for people to know. That's why I put that sentence in. I would appreciate it (sincerely) if you can explain to me why you think it does not belong in the article. I know Wikipedia articles are not supposed to be original material, but you can't cite every sentence. If lack of citation is your only concern, I will search for a source for this statement.

Bacterial classification
[edit]Please see Bacteria#Classification_and_identification for a modern view of bacterial relationships. They are no longer divided into simply two groups, since DNA evidence shows their pylogeny is much more complex than that. --EncycloPetey (talk) 05:27, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
