WikiCup 2021 November newsletter

The WikiCup is over for another year and the finalists can relax! Our Champion this year is Botswana The Rambling Man (submissions), who amassed over 5000 points in the final round, achieving 8 featured articles and almost 500 reviews. It was a very competitive round; seven of the finalists achieved over 1000 points in the round (enough to win the 2019 contest), and three scored over 3000 (enough to win the 2020 event). Our 2021 finalists and their scores were:

  1. Botswana The Rambling Man (submissions) with 5072 points
  2. England Lee Vilenski (submissions) with 3276 points
  3. Rwanda Amakuru (submissions) with 3197 points
  4. New York (state) Epicgenius (submissions) with 1611 points
  5. Gog the Mild (submissions) with 1571 points
  6. Zulu (International Code of Signals) BennyOnTheLoose (submissions) with 1420 points
  7. Hog Farm (submissions) with 1043 points
  8. Republic of Venice Bloom6132 (submissions) with 528 points

All those who reached the final round will win awards. The following special awards will be made based on high performance in particular areas of content creation and review. Awards will be handed out in the next few days.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in this year's WikiCup, whether they made it to the final round or not, and particular congratulations to the newcomers to the WikiCup, some of whom did very well. Wikipedia has benefitted greatly from the quality creations, expansions and improvements made, and the numerous reviews performed. Thanks to all who have taken part and helped out with the competition, not forgetting User:Jarry1250, who runs the scoring bot.

If you have views on whether the rules or scoring need adjustment for next year's contest, please comment on the WikiCup talk page. Next year's competition will begin on 1 January. You are invited to sign up to participate; the WikiCup is open to all Wikipedians, both novices and experienced editors, and we hope to see you all in the 2022 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement! Regarding your Wisconsin hurricanes draft article

Hello, I was looking through the Wisconsin WikiProject talk page archives and noticed your article on hurricanes in Wisconsin. I was wondering if you were interesting in moving it to the mainspace now. --JackFromWisconsin (talk | contribs) 17:43, 15 November 2021 (UTC)

@JackFromWisconsin: In all honesty I completely forgot about that sandbox lol. It happens a lot with me. The article is really close to being done, just a few more storms need their summaries fleshed out, but overall it should be sufficient for publication. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 19:39, 15 November 2021 (UTC)

2001 Pabuk and others

Hi, Cyclonebisit. This may be a WHILE ago but, do you have a source for this? I am trying to improve the 2001 PTS article, and it would kinda suck if I have to remove this information since there is no source. Any other links I can use as well for any of these? Thanks so much. @Typhoon2013: it's from Digital Typhoon. For older storms, DT has the equivalent of NCEI Storm Events. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 20:12, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:05, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

National Institute of Standards and Technology

Cyclonebiskit, should you want to pursue trying to get them to attribute their plagiarism, you can find some sample letters from my (failed) attempts at User:SandyGeorgia/AlainFymat. See also Talk:Dementia with Lewy bodies; he has taken content all over the place from Wikipedia, but I was unsuccessful, as the journals are not of repute and can't be reached. In your case, they will surely respond. Sorry for my awkward attempts at completing these CCI checks ... still learning the ropes, and hoping to develop a methodology that is faster than what I have been doing! Article perusal request

Hello Cylconebiskit. I have written Timeline of Francis Drake's circumnavigation and kindly request that you peruse the article. I see that you have many FLs and am hoping that you can look over this timeline article and make any general suggestions as to how I might improve it. Please know that I have not listed it for peer review as it being a timeline/list, I believe a brief look at it by someone such as you would be more valuable than a comprehensive peer review.

Also know that the references, with the exception of Bergreen's, are solid. I am considering removing Bergreen's since I have recently come across two critical reviews--reviews critical of mistakes Bergreen makes. Most kind regards,Hu Nhu (talk) 01:54, 21 December 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Notice

The article July 2009 Mid-Atlantic tornadoes has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not very notable, doesn’t expand much from section

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 108.170.68.186 (talk) 20:34, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Cyclonebiskit,

I see you are deleting a lot of your User pages. I check the Broken Redirect list daily and there were a few broken redirects from a previous user name you had to some of these pages. But taking care of them led me to this talk page. It looks like you deleted the User page but didn't see the User talk page so I'm not sure if you wanted to delete this, too. Just thought I'd bring it to your attention. Be well! Liz Read! Talk! 02:25, 28 January 2022 (UTC)

WikiCup 2022 March newsletter

And so ends the first round of the WikiCup. Last year anyone who scored more than zero points moved on to Round 2, but this was not the case this year, and a score of 13 or more was required to proceed. The top scorers in Round 1 were:

  • New York (state) Epicgenius, a finalist last year, who led the field with 1906 points, gained from 32 GAs and 19 DYKs, all on the topic of New York buildings.
  • Christmas Island AryKun, new to the contest, was second with 1588 points, having achieved 2 FAs, 11 GAs and various other submissions, mostly on the subject of birds.
  • Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132, a WikiCup veteran, was in third place with 682 points, garnered from 51 In the news items and several DYKs.
  • Philadelphia GhostRiver was close behind with 679 points, gained from achieving 12 GAs, mostly on ice hockey players, and 35 GARs.
  • United Nations Kavyansh.Singh was in fifth place with 551 points, with an FA, a FL, and many reviews.
  • SounderBruce was next with 454 points, gained from an FA and various other submissions, mostly on United States highways.
  • United Nations Ktin, another WikiCup veteran, was in seventh place with 412 points, mostly gained from In the news items.

These contestants, like all the others who qualified for Round 2, now have to start scoring points again from scratch. Between them, contestants completed reviews of a large number of good articles as the contest ran concurrently with a GAN backlog drive. Well done all! To qualify for Round 3, contestants will need to finish Round 2 among the top thirty-two participants.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Anything that should have been claimed for in Round 1 is no longer eligible for points. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.

Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! WikiCup 2022 May newsletter

The second round of the 2022 WikiCup has now finished. It was a high-scoring round and contestants needed 115 points to advance to round 3. There were some very impressive efforts in round 2, with the top seven contestants all scoring more than 500 points. A large number of the points came from the 11 featured articles and the 79 good articles achieved in total by contestants.

Our top scorers in round 2 were:

  1. New York (state) Epicgenius, with 1264 points from 2 featured article, 4 good articles and 18 DYKs. Epicgenius was a finalist last year but has now withdrawn from the contest as he pursues a new career path.
  2. Christmas Island AryKun, with 1172 points from two featured articles, one good article and a substantial number of featured article and good article reviews.
  3. Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132, with 605 points from 44 in the news items and 4 DYKs.
  4. Sammi Brie, with 573 points from 8 GAs and 21 DYKs.
  5. Ealdgyth, with 567 points from 11 GAs and 34 good and featured article reviews.
  6. United States Panini!, with 549 points from 1 FA, 4 GAs and several other sources.
  7. England Lee Vilenski, with 545 points from 1 FA, 4 GAs and a number of reviews.

The rules for featured and good article reviews require the review to be of sufficient length; brief quick fails and very short reviews will generally not be awarded points. Remember also that DYKs cannot be claimed until they have appeared on the main page. As we enter the third round, any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed now, and anything you forgot to claim in round 2 cannot! Remember too, that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! WikiCup 2022 July newsletter

The third round of the 2022 WikiCup has now come to an end. Each of the sixteen contestants who made it into the fourth round had at least 180 points, which is a lower figure than last year when 294 points were needed to progress to round 4. Our top scorers in round 3 were:

  • Zulu (International Code of Signals) BennyOnTheLoose, with 746 points, a tally built both on snooker and other sports topics, and on more general subjects.
  • Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132, with 683 points, garnered mostly from "In the news" items and related DYKs.
  • Sammi Brie, with 527, from a variety of submissions related to radio and television stations.

Between them contestants achieved 5 featured articles, 4 featured lists, 51 good articles, 149 DYK entries, 68 ITN entries, and 109 good article reviews. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. USM

Can you please talk to USM? They keeps coming behind me and changing things as if I have no idea what I'm doing. They really pissed me off today when I found a tornado that was not in the NCEI for January 2020 and removed it, only to be told that there are reliable sources that confirmed this tornado, even though they were based off preliminary reports. I did let my emotions get the better of me and started edit warring with them a little bit, but I felt like I was being belittled and treated like a child. This is the same person who I asked why they were bolding ratings when they redid the tornado tables and got ZERO response until I bought it up on the main 2022 tornado talk page. At this point, I'm exasperated and don't know what to do, so I'm bringing it up to you to help me try to settle this peacefully because otherwise, I will blow a gasket. ChessEric (talk · contribs) 00:26, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

I tried to reach out to him on his talk page, but he seems to be letting anger overtake reason. I've tried to explain that information supported by reliable sources shouldn't be removed because that information isn't present at another source, but apparently that isn't understood. He's trying to act like he feels attacked, which is funny considering all the rude and all caps edit summaries he's directed toward me over the years. Instead of solving the problem on the talk page, he runs to an administrator to do it for him. United States Man (talk) 00:34, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
Are you freaking serious? Me attack you? When have I done that to you recently? Besides what you said to me was totally inconsiderate, as if I don't know what the heck I'm doing. The four sources you provided are also from January 2020, which is WAY before the NCEI would put out a final report, which is what I've ALWAYS used verify tornadoes. When have we ever used anything else? Plus, the list page specially says "Tornado counts are considered preliminary until final publication in the database of the National Centers for Environmental Information." So what you said is COMPLETELY invalid. I was trying not to go there, but you honestly leave me no choice at this point. ChessEric (talk · contribs) 01:19, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
Reliable sources aren’t invalid. As I said before, NCEI is full of mistakes, whether you choose to believe that or not. Running to an administrator when something doesn’t go your way is not appropriate behavior. United States Man (talk) 01:59, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
I have also provided the following sources: [1], [2], [3], [4]. United States Man (talk) 00:46, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

While were at it, also talk to TI12 about this TOTALLY disrespectful summary he put on a revert of mine, which also goes what the list page says: "Tornado counts are considered preliminary until final publication in the database of the National Centers for Environmental Information." ChessEric (talk · contribs) 01:22, 7 July 2022 (UTC)

  • Sounds like this user is trying to use an administrator to solve what he perceives are “problems” that his fellow editors are causing him by doing things that may be contrary to his opinion of how it should be. For myself, I support use of reliable sources, and I do not support overuse of the update template, which is in line with TornadoInformation12. United States Man (talk) 01:59, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
I asked for a second opinion, not for a solution, AND I asked for someone to stop always looking at my edit history. I don't always need your help and know what the heck I'm doing. ChessEric (talk · contribs) 06:07, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
Also, I did not appreciate how rude you were in that first revert summary, saying I should "know better." You are rude to me whenever you revert me and I don't appreciate it. ChessEric (talk · contribs) 06:10, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
Sorry I didn't reply right away to this ChessEric and United States Man. I've been sick for a few days and I don't really have the mental capacity to help out here right now. If there's still an ongoing dispute I would suggest taking it to the relevant administrator noticeboard for neutral input. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 20:48, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
Yeah. I'm just not editing where they are right now. I'm keeping to myself as I'm honestly still mad at how rude they were (and have been) to me in the past. ChessEric (talk · contribs) 22:06, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
  • @United States Man and TornadoInformation12: I know its been a month since my dispute with you guys, but I like to make a formal apology for both of you for my immature actions. I got short-fused and annoyed the day of my dispute with you guys and let that get to my head. I may not get along with you guys all the time (heck, we may mix like oil and water some times), but I have great respect for both of you and always trust your guidance since both of you helped and encouraged me the moment I started editing on Wikipedia. I hope you can forgive and that we edit peacefully together again. ChessEric (talk · contribs) 19:08, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

Heat Wave Split

First of all, thank you for splitting the articles because they really needed to be split. But, in the future, can you check the talk page for an ITN nomination template and Portal:Current events before doing larger splits on current event articles. In this case, the article (June/July combined) was ITN Nominated and linked to multiple days on the Portal:CE. In cases like that where the articles get a lot of traffic, it is best to not do bold splits/merges and best to do through a discussion, so all the different places can see the split/merge about to happen and know to alter wikilinks. WikiCup 2022 September newsletter

WikiCup 2022 September newsletter

The fourth round of the WikiCup has now finished. 383 points were required to reach the final, and the new round has got off to a flying start with all finalists already scoring. In round 4, Bloom6132 with 939 points was the highest points-scorer, with a combination of DYKs and In the news items, followed by BennyOnTheLoose, Sammi Brie and Lee Vilenski. The points of all contestants are swept away as we start afresh for the final round.

At this stage, we say goodbye to the eight competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia, and we hope you will join us again next year. For the remaining competitors, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them, and importantly, before the deadline on October 31st!

If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. The judges are Sturmvogel 66 and Cwmhiraeth. Help with Tropical Cyclone

If you have time, I would appreciate help with Tropical cyclone. I'm getting ready to try and finish up the intensity subsection and work on the preparations section within the next few weeks or so. One big place I know of that needs some assistance is the response section. I have tried to rework large portions of the article on my own (including removing entire sections, adding quite a bit of new content, and reorganizing the hierarchy), but it's quite overwhelming and led to me being burned out for a while. A general plan for the article can be found at Talk:Tropical_cyclone#Article_Outline. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im hoping we can get this article back to GA sometime in 2023. Draft concerning 1926 Nassau hurricane

I am currently attempting to bring this article to A-status or even FA-status. However, I need more material. I recently located a good image of damage in the Bahamas, but it was located on Newspapers.com, in an article dated 30 July 1926. Am I allowed to upload the image to Wikimedia Commons, or does copyright become a factor? CapeVerdeWave (talk) 12:22, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

DYK for Tropical Storm Hermine (2022)

On 25 October 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Tropical Storm Hermine (2022), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Tropical Storm Hermine in September 2022 produced record-breaking rainfall in the Canary Islands amounting to more than 20 times the monthly average? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Tropical Storm Hermine (2022). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Tropical Storm Hermine (2022)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

WikiCup 2022 November newsletter

The 2022 WikiCup has drawn to a close with the final round going down to the wire. The 2022 champion is

  • England Lee Vilenski (1752 points), who won in 2020 and was runner up in both 2019 and last year. In the final round he achieved 3 FAs and 15 GAs, mostly on cue sports. He was closely followed by
  • Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132 (1732), who specialised in "In the news" items and DYKs, and who has reached the final round of the Cup for the past three years. Next was
  • Zulu (International Code of Signals) BennyOnTheLoose (1238), another cue sports enthusiast, also interested in songs, followed by
  • New York City Muboshgu (1082), an "In the news" contributor, a seasoned contestant who first took part in the Cup ten years ago. Other finalists were
  • Sammi Brie (930), who scored with a featured article, good articles and DYKs on TV and radio stations,
  • United Nations Kavyansh.Singh (370), who created various articles on famous Americans, including an FA on Louis H. Bean, famed for his prediction of election outcomes. Next was
  • Chicago PCN02WPS (292), who scored with good articles and DYKs on sporting and other topics and
  • Toronto Z1720 (25) who had DYKs on various topics including historic Canadians.

During the WikiCup, contestants achieved 37 featured articles, 349 good articles, 360 featured article reviews, 683 good article reviews and 480 In the news items, so Wikipedia has benefited greatly from the activities of WikiCup competitors. Well done everyone! All those who reached the final round will receive awards and the following special awards will be made, based on high performance in particular areas of content creation and review. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, these prizes are awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round, or the overall leader in this field.

  • England Lee Vilenski wins the featured article prize, for a total of 6 FAs during the course of the competition and 3 in the final round.
  • United Nations Kavyansh.Singh wins the featured list prize, for 3 FLs in round 2.
  • Adam Cuerden wins the featured picture prize, for 39 FPs during the competition.
  • Toronto Z1720 wins the featured article reviewer prize, for 35 FARs in round 4.
  • New York (state) Epicgenius wins the good article prize, for 32 GAs in round 1.
  • SounderBruce wins the featured topic prize, for 4 FT articles in round 1.
  • England Lee Vilenski wins the good topic prize, for 34 GT articles in round 5.
  • Sammi Brie wins the good article reviewer prize, for 71 GARs overall.

Next year's competition will begin on 1 January and possible changes to the rules and scoring are being discussed on the discussion page. You are invited to sign up to take part in the contest; the WikiCup is open to all Wikipedians, both novices and experienced editors, and we hope to have a good turnout for the 2023 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners and finalists, and thank all participants for their involvement! WikiProject Weather: Map Dot & Template/Infobox Colors

Dear project member, This message is being sent out to encourage new ideas and feedback on those proposed in regard to the colors debate for WikiProject Weather. For those who are unaware of what's been happening over the last year, I will give a brief summary. We have been discussing proposed changes to the colors of the dots on tropical cyclone maps and templates and infoboxes across the entire weather project in order to solve issues related to the limited contrast between colors for both normal vision as well as the various types of color blindness (MOS:ACCESS). We had partially implemented a proposal earlier this year, however, it was objected to by a number of people and additional issues were presented that made it evident this wasn't the optimal solution. We tried to come up with other solutions to address the issues related to color contrast, however, none of them gained traction and no consensus was generated.

We need your help and I encourage you to propose your own scale and give feedback on those already listed. Keep in mind that we are NOT making a decision on any individual proposal at this time. We are simply allowing people to make proposals and cultivate them given feedback from other project members. Please visit our project page for additional details. The proposal phase will close no later than December 31st at 23:59 UTC. NoahTalk 03:09, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

WikiCup 2023 March newsletter

So ends the first round of the 2023 WikiCup. Everyone with a positive score moved on to Round 2, with 54 contestants qualifying. The top scorers in Round 1 were:

  • Unlimitedlead with 1205 points, a WikiCup newcomer, led the field with two featured articles on historical figures and several featured article candidate reviews.
  • New York (state) Epicgenius was in second place with 789 points; a seasoned WikiCup competitor he specialises in buildings and locations in New York.
  • Germany FrB.TG was in third place with 625 points, garnered from a featured article on a filmmaker which qualified for an impressive number of bonus points.
  • United States TheJoebro64, another WikiCup newcomer, came next with 600 points gained from two featured articles on video games.
  • Byzantine Empire Iazyges was in fifth place with 532 points, from two featured articles on classical history.

The top sixteen contestants at the end of Round 1 had all scored over 300 points; these included Berkelland LunaEatsTuna, Thebiguglyalien, Sammi Brie, New England Trainsandotherthings, England Lee Vilenski, Indonesia Juxlos, Unexpectedlydian, Washington (state) SounderBruce, Wales Kosack, BennyOnTheLoose and Chicago PCN02WPS. It was a high-scoring start to the competition.

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start again from scratch. The first round finished on February 26. Remember that any content promoted after that date but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Some contestants made claims before the new submissions pages were set up, and they will need to resubmit them.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Sturmvogel 66 and Cwmhiraeth. First TD in NW Pacific.

I have a question, a tropical depression formed just above the equator in an inhomogeneous position between the JMA and the JTWC. While the JMA thinks it's in the Northern Hemisphere, the JTWC says it's in the Southern Hemisphere, has it broken the record for closest to the equator set by Tropical Storm Vamei in 2001? Bóng Ma - Talk 08:10, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

@Final-Fantasy-HH: since the JTWC is an unofficial source for the purposes of record-keeping, the JMA positions are the ones we use for this purpose. As such, no record was broken since they analyzed the center at 2N. A note can be added about the JTWC having a different position if desired. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 00:37, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
Thanks, and one more question ... Do you have data for the kilometers traveled by Freddy... this is an interesting storm that is challenging many records, I don't know if it can break the record for longest distance traveled in the Southern Hemisphere or not. Because John's record is unbeatable. Bóng Ma - Talk 22:49, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
@Final-Fantasy-HH: I plugged the JTWC track data into Google Earth and got ~11,800km as a TC and ~12,500km if the remnant low phase over Mozambique is included. Have to wait on a reliable source for us to add anything onto Wiki tho. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 05:31, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Extremely rate cyclone in South East Pacific.

Recently, I discovered several articles documenting the formation of an "extremely rare tropical cyclone" in the Southeast Pacific basin, near Peru, and unofficially named by the tracking agency as " Yaku". Should it be added to the South Pacific hurricane season? Vệ Thần - Talk 22:59, 12 March 2023 (UTC)

@Final-Fantasy-HH: It's not sub/tropical cyclone or being considered such as far as I can see so it doesn't warrant inclusion. A lot of agencies/media outlets across the world will call something "Cyclone [name]" regardless of it being tropical or not. It's a deadly rainfall event, however. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 01:36, 13 March 2023 (UTC)

Help

Any chance you would be able to help with Cyclone Yaku? It's a rare and deadly event that needs some love. I already placed a ton of links on the talkpage for Spanish sources that mention it. NoahTalk 19:51, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
