Hi Isinbill! Dont touch the page, because, how many i watched this page,so many was wrote uyghurs in the usa more than 250k. So,dont touch Please:)Good luck:) Police Patroul (talk) 17:51, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Uyghur Americans

[edit]

I Just know many infromtation about population of uyghurs in the usa. I was watched in tiktok, about pop of uyghurs in the U.S. and 250k are real uyghur. +50k uyghurs, who dont have passport or Black — Preceding unsigned comment added by Police Patroul (talkcontribs) 18:26, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what sources he used that but I suspect he used the wrong data that was included in the Wikipedia article. The data that I included in the article (and it is the data that was in the article years ago, before an anonymous user changed it to 250,000) is data given by official bodies, as you can see.--Isinbill (talk) 18:31, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So,bro! Look in russian wikipedia "УЙГУРСКАЯ ДИАСПОРА" and you'll know Police Patroul (talk) 18:35, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that a specific wikipedia says something does not mean that we should pay attention to it, unless the data has reliable sources, and that does not happen in the Russian article that you mentioned. So the US Uyghur section of the Russian article you pointed to lacks sources. On the other hand, you cannot assume that the U.S. Census Bureau, the East Turkistan Government in Exile, and the Uyghur American Association are wrong. And those are the sources for this article's data on the size of the Uyghur population in the US.--Isinbill (talk) 18:40, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, the anonymous user who indicated, in the English Wikipedia, that there were 250,000 Uyghurs in the US indicated this long before the Uyghur Diaspora article was published on Russian wikipedia (check the Wath List on both pages). If to that we include that the section on Uygurs in the USA of said Russian article lacks references, this section should have been based on the English article on the Uygurs Americans. The Uyghur Diaspora article from Russian Wikipedia is not a source to be reckoned with.--Isinbill (talk) 18:52, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:American people of Tuareg descent indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
Tajotep (talk) 12:13, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. Question on content in article

[edit]

Hello, I have been reading the following article, and I have some questions. I believe you added this

Mateo González Manrique

According to historian Sean Michael O'Brien, Manrique, fearing a possible attack by Jackson's forces, invited Edward Nicolls, an Anglo-Irish officer of the British Royal Marines, to land his troops at Pensacola, where they soon took control of the port.
In addition to the Seminoles and Creek, Nicolls and the British military officer George Woodbine recruited about 500 Red Sticks (also referred to as "Redsticks"), Seminoles..and Blacks in Pensacola to serve in the British Army against the Americans.
Source: O'Brien, page 170

Your link no longer works, so I cannot cross reference this against page 170 of O'Brien's book. I have never seen the first allegation before. I think the wording is not quite right, as there were only 130 of Nicolls allies that attacked Fort Bowyer in 1814.

I am hoping that you have a copy of this book, as I am especially interested to see, word for word, what is stated. Anything that does not tie back to source material should be rewritten.

Thanking you for your anticipated cooperation.

Regards Keith H99 (talk) 15:04, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Isinbill I have been able to see that on page 171 O'Brien has the following, but this does not reflect 500 men. There is mention of recruiting on pages 169, 171 according to the index, but not page 170.

Cochrane had given him authority to raise a regiment of blacks and red men led by British officers. Nicolls[sic] had as many as 100 Maroons on duty in Fort San Miguel. He urged the Red Stick leaders Francis and McQueen, to do all they could to bolster black recruit-ment, and the chiefs responded very favourably.

Thanks Keith H99 (talk) 16:07, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have a similar question with the following
According to historian Eric Beerman, in December 1814 prior to the Battle of New Orleans, Nicolls moved once again into Pensacola where he took Spanish soldiers and slaves as prisoners of war to use against the Americans in New Orleans campaign. Andrew Jackson, however, returned to Pensacola with his forces, forcing the British to retreat and Nicolls to keep the prisoners in the British headquarters at Prospect Bluff on the Apalachicola River, 250 kilometers east of Pensacola. Manrique sent Lt. Luis Urcullú with transport ships to negotiate a return of the prisoners, but was rebuffed. After the British defeat at the Battle of New Orleans in January 1815, Manrique instructed Captain Vicente Sebastian Pintado to travel to Apalachicola and confer with British vice-admiral Sir Alexander Cochrane. Cochrane agreed with Pintado, and ordered the return of all Spanish troops and slaves taken by the British to Pensacola aboard one of his ships under the command of Richard Spencer.
Source: Eric Beerman's biography of canario Pintado
The link to the article that was accessed in 2015 is dead. If, as the history books tell us, Manrique was an ally of the British, then
1. Why did Nicolls take Spanish soldiers and slaves as prisoners?
2. If they were prisoners, there must have been a battle. Can you provide evidence of the battle between the British and the Spanish?
3. Is there evidence of these Spanish participating in the Battle of New Orleans alongside the British, as I have not seen any?
I am hoping that you have a copy of this book, as I am especially interested to see, word for word, what is stated. Anything that does not tie back to source material should be rewritten.
Thanking you for your anticipated cooperation.
