Hello, IvetP, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia. Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who misuse multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please disclose these connections. Thank you.--VVikingTalkEdits 13:54, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, IvetP. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GermanJoe (talk) 08:41, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please clarify a likely conflict of interest regarding this topic. If you continue with the promotional editing, your account might get blocked and the affected pages will be protected to avoid further disruption - consider this a final warning. In short, Wikipedia is no PR platform to promote companies, products or any other topic. Please suggest further changes on article talk instead of editing affected articles yourself. Thank you for your consideration. GermanJoe (talk) 08:46, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have publically announced in my profile that I work for ShapeBlue and that I am an Apache CloudStaclk committer. Is there anything else, I need to do to meet the criteria?

[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello IvetP! Your additions to Apache CloudStack have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 23:58, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just added the refernces, can you let me know if this is enough? IvetP (talk) 13:21, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your article ShapeBlue

[edit]

Hi @IvetP

Your article ShapeBlue currently cites no sources. Every fact and statement in your article needs to be backed up by independent and reliable sources. This is so anyone can verify that the statements in your article are accurate and to ensure that your topic is notable enough for inclusion in Wikipedia. If you do not add any sources then I am afraid your article will never be accepted onto Wikipedia.

It might be worth reading Wikipedia:Your first article which gives you the dos and don'ts of creating an article, plus the Wikipedia:Citing sources guide that explains how to cite sources.

The easiest way to fix your article is to find reliable, independent, secondary sources that cover ShapeBlue in detail, and then summarise them in your own words. That should make up the content of your article draft. Note that the sources must be:

- Reliable: Your article should rely on strong, reliable sources that are published by reputable institutions. Primary sources can be used for basic facts (such as a date of birth), but they should be supplemented with strong secondary sources that offer analysis or interpretation.
- Independent: Your sources should be independent of the subject, for example not self-published or from the subject's own website.
- Show significant coverage: Your subject should be discussed in detail in the sources you find. The sources should provide in-depth information or analysis about the subject, going beyond basic facts or promotional material.
- From multiple places: You should find at least three separate reliable, independent, secondary sources that discuss your subject.
- Not original research: Wikipedia articles should summarise existing knowledge about a subject, not present new research. This means you should avoid drawing your own conclusions or analyses from the sources. Stick to summarising what the sources say in a neutral tone.

Remember that your article should be written from a Wikipedia:Neutral point of view.

If you cannot find multiple, reliable, and independent sources then I am afraid that ShapeBlue would not meet the notability threshold at this time and therefore cannot have a Wikipedia article. Remember that Wikipedia is not a place for any type of self-promotion or advertisement. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia: not an advertising platform, directory, or a way to promote a subject.

Hope that helps, Qcne (talk) 12:58, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon

Hello IvetP. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to ShapeBlue, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:IvetP. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=IvetP|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Qcne (talk) 13:00, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@IvetP Firstly, please sign your comments with your signature so we know who is speaking. See Wikipedia:Signatures.
You need to follow the guidance at Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure and use the template to disclose your paid editing. Qcne (talk) 13:17, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Qcne shall I disclose paid editing only if I am paid to add info to Wikipedia? I mean I work for this company, but I am not paid to add any info here? IvetP (talk) 13:20, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are the marketing director, so presumably are paid to market the company- which is what you seem to be doing with your Wikipedia article?
I've also just checked your speedy deletion contestation on the article Talk page (please sign that comment too!) - your article as it currently stands is wholly inappropriate for Wikipedia due to the lack of sources. Have a read of my topic that I added a few minutes ago above (Your article ShapeBlue) which explains why we need sources and what sort of sources are appropriate.
Most of the 6 sources you currently cite are not independent of or discuss ShapeBlue in any detail:
1) is just a directory service
2) is the ShapeBlue website, so not independent
3) is the ShapeBlue github, so not independent
4) is a PR piece talking about the partnership, so not independent
5) is just a directory service
6) is a primary source (see Wikipedia:Primary sources).
Let me know if you have questions, Qcne (talk) 13:27, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, let me fix these things. Starting to edit now. Thanks, all help is much appreciated. IvetP (talk) 13:30, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just another quick one, you stated "because it's purpose is to provide information on a company and its employee-ownership model" - but that is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Check out Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. Wikipedia articles only exist to summarise what independent, third party sources state about a topic. There are, unfortunately, plenty of articles on Wikipedia that do not meet this criteria because we have literally millions of articles that haven't yet been checked.
Sorry if this was a bit disheartening and confusing, it's just worth remembering that Wikipedia is not a social media site like LinkedIn.
Best, Qcne (talk) 13:33, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, agree with you and know it is hard work to edit the mess created by multiple people. In general - most of the companies have their wikipedia pages, which present the company and its history, also link to technologies used.
I hope this might be ok for the ShapeBlue page also.
I am trying to find where to sign the speedy deletion contest now. IvetP (talk) 13:35, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Qcne I have publically announced in my profile that I work for ShapeBlue and that I am an Apache CloudStaclk committer. Is there anything else, I need to do to meet the criteria? IvetP (talk) 13:18, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on ShapeBlue, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. File source problem with File:ShapeBlue Logo.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:ShapeBlue Logo.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 13:23, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Final warning

[edit]

You attempted to directly create an article about a subject with which you have a paid conflict of interest, at ShapeBlue. Paid editors are required to follow our conflict of interest guidelines. For creation of a new article, this means that you must create any proposed new article as a draft and request articles for creation review, and not create any such article directly in mainspace, so that an editor without a COI can review it. Please ensure that you do not do this again. Any further violations may lead to a block from editing. Seraphimblade Talk to me 15:40, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
