Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited A Little Bit of This, a Little Bit of That, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page LRS (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Hi Jax. While I appreciate your intent in creating List of Columbia University alumni and attendees, I don't think it was necessary. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article guidelines#Alumni. Wikipedia convention is to refer to anyone who has attended a school as an alumnus. That might not fit every school's definition, but it saves us a lot of hair-splitting. (One notable example: Edgar Allan Poe at the List of University of Virginia people.) I also notice you split the article off from List of Columbia University people, which isn't a bad idea, but with List of Columbia University alumni also in existence, we have three articles where there should be two, or perhaps even one. Just wanted to leave you a courtesy note that I'd be merging List of Columbia University alumni and attendees into List of Columbia University alumni soon. I may also merge that into List of Columbia University people. We don't seem to be as quick to split this sort of list due to length. If Harvard doesn't do it, we can probably live without it. --BDD (talk) 04:25, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

It was nice to receive your welcome e-mail, but difficult to feel welcome when user INeverCry has already deleted my user page. Eponymous categories

Per WP:OC#EPONYMOUS, eponymous categories (such as the one you created for Love and Death) are generally discouraged when there are established schemes in place that deal with the specific subject of the articles you would think to place in an eponymous category. So, albums go into albums by artist subcategories, songs go into songs by artist subcategories, and band members go into musicians by band subcategories. The fact that there are still multiple subcategories to place in the eponymous category, it probably wouldn't get deleted in a CfD (based on previous outcomes of similar categories), but someone may want it renamed to Category:Love and Death (band) at some point because many think the category name should match the name of the article. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:02, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

tianu template

Hello, I see you put the template on my talk page. I did not know about it, thank you. How did you discover it? MarioNovi (talk) 16:03, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Jax created is as replacement for another user-unfriendly redirect that was removed after a deletion procedure. Sole reason seem to be that "tianu" has less letters then "{{This is a new user}}", what should be typed for Template:This is a new user. The Banner talk 19:06, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of an Article

Jambo, Jax,

I just received your welcome message and was guided here. I certainly am willing to contribute to Wikipedia but was quite frustrated when I discovered that an article I created in 2008 was deleted last month because it was "promotional". The guy who deleted it was quite helpful and friendly but I have reviewed the article over and over again and wondered why the content hasn't been chalenged for more than 5 years and then got deleted without previous warning.

Sigh!

Regards, Stefan (talk) 14:01, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Reply - Sometimes articles get overlooked for years before they are deleted. If you check your watchlist, you will know when something is modified and/or recommended for deletion (this should however be put on your talk page). If you object to a WP:PROD you can write your reason on the talk page or you may be able to remove the notice if the article permits you to do so. I'll quote what another user told me months ago in archive 1 of my talk page:

WP:Your first article is a good guide worth studying, and so is the WP:FAQ/Organizations.

After adding sources, I suggest you ask for comments at WP:Requests for feedback before moving the article back into the main encyclopedia. --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:22, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Move discussion

There is a discussion going on about moving the Template:Gabriele Kerner to Template:Nena (singer). Your Template:Nena is already moved to Template:Nena (band). Template:Nena should then be salted because it is a highly confusing name and in fact a disambiguation.

Please check with your de-facto mentor&coach, mr. Wilkins, if you are allowed to participate in the discussion (I guess you will be allowed) so you can give your opinions on Template talk:Gabriele Kerner. I would appreciate that. The Banner talk 06:05, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Edit on my talk page

Hi

I just saw you made an edit on my talk page, something about a template tianu. I dont understand. What was the purpose with this edit? Qed237 (talk) 21:24, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

Reply - Sorry bout that, something is causing issues with the coding making it display improperly, so I removed it. --Jax 0677 (talk) 22:31, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
Re-reply - No problem. I think i found out the problem. The tianu template is a redirect to "This is a new user"-template and since this tianu-template is discussed to be removed it is not working properly. Try "This is a new user"-template instead and look here Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2013_June_24 Qed237 (talk) 23:01, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
Reply - I think that the coding error is what is actually causing people to become confused, not the template itself if it were working the way that it was supposed to work. --Jax 0677 (talk) 02:15, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
Perhaps still using the tianu-template while it is under deletion-discussion is the problem... The Banner talk 03:35, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
Jax, for the time being just use {{This is a new user}}. I realize those 13 additional keystrokes are hard for you but it would be best not to confuse new users while they get accustomed to Wikipedia and its intricacies. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:41, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
So now there's {{new user}}, {{new-user}}, and {{newuser}}, each for a different thing. That's not confusing. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 21:46, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Southwest Airlines Flight 345, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. ...William 16:33, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:ButlerInternational.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:ButlerInternational.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 17:06, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Tag overkill

I think tagging something as basic as the label of an upcoming album is a bit overkill on the [citation needed]. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 23:31, 10 September 2013 (UTC)

  • Also, I think the past members of the Nigel Dupree Band were hoaxes. The first name I checked got no hits outside Wikipedia when searching it alongside Nigel Dupree Band, so I think you could've just removed that section instead of [citation needed]ing it. Reply - TPH, I understand your concern, and I now realize that the label at Thomas Rhett (EP) may have been covered in the prose. That being said, the reference for the track listing was removed and was not replaced by something better. WRT Nigel Dupree Band, I strongly prefer to put {{CN}} wherever a reference is lacking, as opposed to making people guess where the references are indeed needed. That being said, I will try to be more sparing in the future. I like to leave a {{CN}} tag up for a little while in order to allow time for the addition of references instead of deleting the information outright. --Jax 0677 (talk) 00:50, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Toronto Premium Outlets, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Aeropostale (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Logo Hutchinson Worldwide.gif)

Thanks for uploading File:Logo Hutchinson Worldwide.gif.

Thank you. Werieth (talk) 15:51, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a search with the contents of List of songs recorded by Mohammed Rafi (T), and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: List of songs recorded by Mohammed Rafi (S–T). It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. MadmanBot (talk) 18:23, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello, Jax 0677, and thank you for your contributions!

Some text in an article that you worked on List of songs recorded by Mohammed Rafi (O), appears to be directly copied from another Wikipedia article, List of songs recorded by Mohammed Rafi (M–O). Please take a minute to double-check that you've properly attributed the source text in your edit summary.

It's entirely possible that this bot made a mistake, so please feel free to remove this notice and the tag it placed on List of songs recorded by Mohammed Rafi (O) at any time. MadmanBot (talk) 01:42, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

A reference problem

Hi! Some users have been working hard on Category:Pages with broken reference names.

In your article List of Princeton University people (United States Congress, Supreme Court, Continental Congress and Constitutional Convention), you added a lot of references but didn't define it. Since then, this has been showing as an error at the bottom of the article. I know it's been a few time, but can you take a look and work out what you were trying to do? Thanks --Frze > talk 05:19, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Fake, misleading interwikis

Do not re-attach the fake interwikis on 2013 Harbin smog. The purpose of interwikis are to link to identical articles on other language editions of Wikipedia. What you have done is linked completely unrelated cross-wiki articles to this page. Furthermore, Wikipedia uses Wikidata now, and manual interwiki links are now redundant. --benlisquareTCE 14:36, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

  • Reply - I never claimed ownership, and bots have usually taken care of the interwiki links. I considered the 2013 Harbin smog a subset of Harbin, the person before undid my edit without explanation, but I will refrain until there is an article about the 2013 Harbin smog itself. --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:55, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
