Welcome!

Hello, Joetheintern, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like Joseph Luginbill, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Removing Speedy at Joseph Luginbill

[edit]

Hi there Joetheintern! I saw that you added a {{hangon}} tag to a page which you created, Joseph Luginbill. This is good, but in the process you removed the tag requesting deletion under CSD G2. Even though there is a hangon on the page, the deletion template should remain there. But don't worry, this doesn't mean that the page is going to get deleted. Make sure you edit the talk page of the page nominated for deletion, located at Talk:Joseph Luginbill, administrators will look at your reason why the page should remain before they decide what to do. Thanks - SDPatrolBot (talk) 19:48, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

October 2009

[edit]

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. I've moved it to your user page Fabrictramp | talk to me 19:52, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Luginbill

[edit]

A couple of good guidelines for you to read are WP:COI and WP:BIO. Since Joseph Luginbill is your friend, you clearly have a conflict of interest -- even if you could manage to write about him in an unbiased manner, people would suspect your contributions are biased. Also, read WP:BIO and WP:CRYSTAL -- media attention needs to happen before the Wikipedia article, not after. Joseph Luginbill gets 10 google hits, most of which are Wikipedia and Facebook. Notability just isn't there. (I'm also a bit skeptical of the claim that he would be the youngest elected person ever. The world is big, and ever is a long time -- a claim like that needs documentation if and when Joseph becomes notable.) HTH --Fabrictramp | talk to me 20:01, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Joseph Luginbill requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. JohnCD (talk) 13:02, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. You get marks for persistence, but this article does not meet Wikipedia's requirements, for reasons explained above. See also WP:Autobiography, and WP:POLITICIAN which expressly provides that being a candidate for office does not confer notability - this is to prevent Wikipedia being used as an election notice-board. Please read the guidelines you have been given. If you continue to post this article you may be blocked from editing, and the article title may be salted to prevent recreation. JohnCD (talk) 13:09, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Marion Janet Harron requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add content (particularly if you change facts and figures) please cite a reliable source for the content you're adding or changing. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Ron Carter (jazz educator and clinician), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.niu.edu/music/about/bios/rcarter.shtml. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 21:27, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Ron Carter (jazz educator and clinician) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Ron Carter (jazz educator and clinician), a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Ironholds (talk) 21:48, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Thomas Kemp, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thomas Kemp. Wikiquote and Commons

[edit]

I removed the {{wikiquote}} and {{Commons category|Marion Janet Harron}} from Marion Janet Harron since they both gave empty results when I clicked on them. Those should only be used when there is material on the subject at Wikiquote or Commons.

Similarly, I removed fr:Thomas Kemp, de:Thomas Kemp etc. from Thomas Kemp because those are links to the French and German Wikipedias, and there are no corresponding articles. - Eastmain (talk) 00:41, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Photographs of politicians

[edit]

As you know, Wikipedia doesn't want photos taken from newspapers or other websites. If you can take a photo yourself of the subject of an article, such a photo would be welcome. Include as much detail as you can with the photo. If you are involved with municipal politics, you might be able to take a picture of your mayor during or just before or after a city council meeting. - Eastmain (talk) 00:41, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Dennis Luginbill has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Musician that does not meet WP:MUSIC, either as performer or composer. Possible WP:COI issue.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. BaronLarf 04:53, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Dennis Luginbill

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Dennis Luginbill. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dennis Luginbill. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:04, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Tom_Barrett_Mayor.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 00:18, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:RepresentativeKastenmeier.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 15:44, 8 January 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 15:44, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
