Why did you blank this material? I have restored it as it seems well-referenced. Please state your reasons for wishing to delete it in talk. --John (talk) 20:48, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kindly take at least five minutes before engaging in a revert war. There is a reasonable explanation for my edit, which you did not read, and you did not allow anyone else to contribute to the discussion. The timeline clearly shows your revert happened within a few minutes.Princetoniac (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:05, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I see it now, but I reverted two minutes after, when you had not edited talk. It is better to do it in the opposite order. For something like this where there are sources and there is no WP:BLP consideration, I recommend noting in talk first, waiting for 24-48 hours, then removing the material. Removing it first referring to a non-existent talk page post is a way to get reverted. Welcome anyway and I hope you will see it makes more sense to discuss before removing stuff. --John (talk) 21:14, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Princetoniac. If you are a GG fan, you should read Swensen's and Paris's books. Fascinating.--Classicfilmbuff (talk) 21:14, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks. I've devoted myself to this p. for about 2 years and I keep tweaking it. Less and less however. Just little stuff. Thank god. Plus adding my two bits to other pages. Sometimes I wish WP would ban me from editing. The amount of time. Jeeze. I'm assuming you are, or were, a student at Princeton. congratulations to you--Classicfilmbuff (talk) 23:53, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm CAPTAIN RAJU. I noticed that in this edit to John F. Kennedy Jr., you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. CAPTAIN RAJU (✉) 22:27, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Select Survey Invite

[edit]

I'm working on a study of political motivations and how they affect editing. I'd like to ask you to take a survey. The survey should take no more than 1-2 minutes. Your survey responses will be kept private. Our project is documented at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Wikipedia_%2B_Politics.

Your survey Link: http://uchicago.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9S3JByWf57fXEkR?Q_DL=56np5HpEZWkMlr7_9S3JByWf57fXEkR_MLRP_5bywZsZrBOctIHP&Q_CHL=gl

I am asking you to participate in this study because you are a frequent editor of pages on Wikipedia that are of political interest. We would like to learn about your experiences in dealing with editors of different political orientations.

Sincere thanks for your help! Porteclefs (talk) 01:14, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to William Barr does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. I notice your complaint about an edit being reverted - I happen to agree with your edit, but with a significant change to text, you really need to give a meaningful description in the edit history. In this case, something like WP:UNDUE or WP:NPOV and "see talk page". You're now in the WP:BRD phase, hopefully the other editor will participate on the talk page. Tarl N.
