The thing is, I have discussed it, or at tried to, on the talk page. The article is a mess. I just hate seeing what I think should be a quality article overrun by recentism and fans adding "cool" moments that are just as arbitrary as you said my deletions were. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to sound insulted or whatever that you reverted my edit. I'm just venting some steam that this article isn't where it should be. I've actually considered nominating it for deletion just to try and get some attention to it to clean it up. I apologize for not putting my edit up for discussion, but it just seems like too many of the editors (mostly IPs it seems) are not interested in debating the merits or each entry. Maybe I'm no better for doing what I did, but I honestly don't know how else to get that article in line.Highway99 (talk) 04:19, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: CAA Silver Anniversary Team

I had also thought of this a little while back. At first I thought that it should go on the CAA page itself, but then I decided that it would junk up the page. Then, I wondered if it should go exclusively on the 2009–10 season's page since, as you mentioned, is the Silver Anniversary season. That makes a lot more sense to me, although something still didn't sit quite right with it, but then I (think I) realized why.

The CAA Silver Anniversary Men's Basketball Team is just that – specific to one sport. However, the CAA has compiled anniversary teams for all of their sports, making the isolation of just men's basketball an unnecessarily favored one. I propose a brand new Wikipedia article unto itself, titled something along the lines of "Colonial Athletic Association Silver Anniversary Teams" that list all of the sports (and corresponding anniversary players) on it. Then that page can be linked to on the 2009–10 page as a 'see also' like this: [[Colonial Athletic Association Silver Anniversary Teams#Men's basketball]]. The CAA main page could also have a new section added to it, explaining the significance of the anniversary and the decision to honor the 25 greatest individual players in each of the sports for its 25th anniversary, then it could provide a link. The page would be a pretty large one to make, considering 25 players × 21 teams = 525. But, I don't know might be worth it, might not. Thoughts? Jrcla2 (talk) 05:17, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I'm making an inclusive template that will include all members of all Silver Anniversary Teams. It will take a long time to make, but I just want to give you a heads up on the off chance that you may have thought about doing it yourself. So, on that note, don't worry about it, I got it. I'll be gone for the next 5 days though, so my Wikipedia activity may drop off significantly for the next week, but I'll be back to make good contributions soon enough. Would you mind going to Talk:Alumni Stadium#Why isn't this the disambig page? and commenting with your opinion on the disambiguation I proposed? I feel that Boston College shouldn't have exclusive rights to such a broad name. Even though I only listed a handful of other pages that could benefit from a dab page, I'm sure (with such a common name) that there are plenty more out there waiting to be created/found to be included. Thanks for the explanation. It's kind of a sticky situation all around, but I guess I agree with why they're deciding to place GSU into the North Division. After all, they are the ones who are making the big mess and causing skyrockets in travel expenses for them being so far away. I have no problem with the move on the CAA page of putting them into the North Division. I think I'm going to copy/paste your explanation to me into the CAA talk page and then make an internal comment on the CAA page itself saying do not move GSU; see the discussion as to why. Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens Football navbox

I created the {{Template:Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens Football}} navbox tonight. I've put it on the limited number of pages that are currently available to actually put it on, but I wanted to alert you to this new navbox because I know you're a huge UDel fan. You're also the primary contributor to the Delaware football pages. As you can see there are plenty of red links in the navbox, so if you're ever bored there's plenty to do :) I've modeled it off the W&M and Richmond football navboxes that I've also created. I voted a strong keep since he was a head football coach at a D-IAA university, which entails notability. I'm not sure the nominator understands that, but whatever. Thanks in advance. Communities in Delaware

I have contested your recent proposed deletions of various communities in Delaware. The communities you proposed to be deleted are all listed as "populated places" in the Geographic Names Information System, which is considered a reliable source for both the existence and notability of communities. If you have any sources to back up your claims that they are not communities, please present them, but otherwise your claims are original research. If you still believe these articles should be deleted, you can take them to Articles for deletion; however, I would advise you that there have been several deletion debates over populated places in the past, and the consensus has been to keep them. CAA Football

Superman: Where is your evidence concerning a separate conference? The CAA website lists the football members as associate members, also I looked at the copyrights on each of the web pages. You are correct that the Missouri Valley Conference and the Football Conference are listed as separate entities, but the Colonial Athletic Association lists the same organization for both its all sports and its football conference. If you look at the talk page for the CAA wiki you will see that I listed several references from the CAA themselves that they are separate conferences. They have separate by-laws, separate articles of incorporation, and file separate taxes with the IRS, confirming that the federal government recognizes them as distinctly separate organizations. Although CAA Football is administered by the CAA, they are legally separate, and there are no associate members for CAA Football because it is a football-only conference. I was looking at the Wikipedian firefighters category and noticed that you are one of the members of the Wikipedia community that lists yourself as being a firefighter. I noticed that here you reverted my removal of Carroll McCray from the notable people list at Monroe, North Carolina. Nowhere on the Carroll McCray article is there a mention of Monroe, North Carolina. You also added McCray to the Monroe article without a source. None, as in zero, as in not a single example anywhere, of the "notable people" on the Monroe, NC page include a source stating they were from Monroe on the Monroe page, so "added McCray to the Monroe article without a source" is clearly not applicable or you would have deleted every single example on the page. There is not a single Wikipedia guideline that requires the mentioning of an individuals hometown on their article page in order for that individual to be included in the list of notable people from that town, so again, that is clearly not applicable. As for original research, Wikipedia states that the phrase "original research" is used on Wikipedia to refer to material—such as facts, allegations, and ideas—for which no reliable, published sources exist. As there are numerous reliable, published sources stating he is from Monroe, NC, for example http://greertoday.com/greer-sc/mccray-selected-north-greenvilles-head-football-coach/2012/01/18/, http://www.furmanpaladins.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/mccray_carroll00.html?view=bio, and http://www.gwusports.com/sports/fball/coaches/mccray_carroll?view=bio, this is also clearly not applicable. If you'd like to come up with something of actual substance to back your removal of the article from the Monroe, NC page, I would be happy to listen to it, but arbitrary application of non-existent guidelines is insufficient grounds for removals. First, please take a moment to read other stuff exists. As well, WP:UNSOURCED is very clear about this: "All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and is satisfied by providing a citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution." Instead, you reverted my edit to add back the same unsourced content I had removed. Please either add a source to your edit or remove it. Thank you. 2019 US Banknote Contest

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

It looks like in 2019, you made a lot of edits like this: [1] Notice the URL added https://factfinder.census.gov/faces/tableservices/jsf/pages/productview.xhtml?src=bkmk .. is an invalid URL (true this is what displays in the browser bar, but it is not the underlying URL to get the intended data - they have/had a messy site). I was wondering would you consider going back and finding/correcting them? The factfinder website is dead as of March 31 2020 and I am trying to add archive URLs but coming across a ot of these invalid URLs with no information as to what the correct URL was. -- GreenC 18:04, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
