Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2020 Green Party of Canada leadership election, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page MD. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ ‱ Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:15, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cynthia Reyes moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Cynthia Reyes, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hey @AngusWOOF: . Thanks for reviewing it. There are thousands of organizations that use the "Friends of" moniker
This is just the first export from the Canadian Revenue Agency's list of charities, searching for "Canadian Friends of". As such, I don't think that its a neologism. Also, this article is intended to discuss organizations like this as a whole, not one specific one. Would you recommend a different title?
I see your point on sources, and will work to find more. TimeEngineer (talk) 18:12, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
TimeEngineer, it's more whether there is an overall "Canadian Friends of" organization that has claimed trademark of that phrase so only members of that organization can use it. AngusWđŸ¶đŸ¶F (bark ‱ sniff) 18:22, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
See 501(c)(3) organization for example, mentions this term "friends of". AngusWđŸ¶đŸ¶F (bark ‱ sniff) 18:24, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. There isn't an overall organization, but its a common and long used term that I believe would do well to be defined in an article. TimeEngineer (talk) 18:41, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Tarahan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Can't find enough coverage to show they pass WP:GNG or WP:NMUSIC.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Kim Baines requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Kpgjhpjm 09:21, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe my understanding of "you may only do 1 revert every 24 hours" is incorrect, but it seems very clear. TimeEngineer (talk) 19:34, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Nableezy That goes against the clear text of WP:RV. It says that while any edit is technically a revert, the word's use in wikipedia is an edit that removes the entirety of someones contribution.
My first edit was because that line's contents wasn't reflected in the sources it cited. That was an edit to the page, not the revert of someone else's edit (at least I didn't check to make sure that the sentence hadn't been added as a single edit and left unchanged over the last 3 months, which is an unreasonable standard.) TimeEngineer (talk) 19:41, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
WP:EW: The three-revert rule states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts, in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material, on a single page within a 24-hour period. ... The term "revert" is defined as any edit (or administrative action) that reverses or undoes the actions of other editors, in whole or in part, Unless you think my initial removal was also not a revert? nableezy - 20:18, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Nableezy I personally wouldn't call it a revert. I'd call it an edit. TimeEngineer (talk) 20:21, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, Ive always approached any removal as a revert by default. Anyway, Id be glad to discuss the content on the talk page so we can come to some sort of consensus on what the article should say. nableezy - 20:23, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the word's use in wikipedia is an edit that removes the entirety of someones contribution.
I just wanted to comment to say that this understanding isn't correct; the definition is An edit or a series of consecutive edits that undoes or manually reverses other editors' actions—whether in whole or in part—counts as a revert.
However, it is not a revert to remove content that has become the status quo - there is no clear definition of when content becomes the status quo and I've seen arguments for anything from a couple of days to a year, but I would suggest at least three months to be safe. Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Bad close

Re Talk:2024 Jerusalem mayoral election -- per WP:CLOSE, do not supervote by using a discussion close to impose your opinion on the process, and certainly do not close discussions where you were yourself the one who opened them. jp×gđŸ—Żïž 18:37, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm JalenFolf. I noticed that you recently removed all content from Rafael Barak. Please do not do this. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. As a rule, if you discover a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page.
