DUS

[edit]

If you log onto EI's website and select multi city or group bookings Cork DUS is available to book from Sunday 2 May 2016. There is always a delay for it entering the main home page drop down menu's.

Thank you, I didn't know that. Vg31-irl (talk) 15:50, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cardiff to Norwich

[edit]

Hey man, hate to be a pain but please stop adding Cardiff to Norwich and Doncaster to IOM as links air routes. They have knocked both of them on the head for this year at least, but Doncaster to IOM may return as a TT special only next year. They have simply forgotten to remove the timetable from their website.

Kind Regards, Adam :)

Aer Lingus Regional

[edit]

See: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Airports/page_content.

Note that 'Air Canada Express' is listed there, but not the Regional Airlines that operate Air Canada Express, because it is a brand. There are situations, like with mainline Aer Lingus, where the flights are operated by ASL Airlines Ireland and are listed as such because there is no separate branding here, like with the Regional flights.

Most North American airports have been updated with this newish WP:AIRPORTS change (couple of years ago), but not all airports had been updated.

Tofutwitch11 (TALK) 16:15, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That is focused purely on American airports/airlines. There needs to be proper consensus to change this for European airports/airlines. It's not just the case with Aer Lingus Regional, it is also the case with other airlines including Lufthansa, where it says Lufthansa Regional operated by Lufthansa CityLine. You can't have one airport page different to all other European airport pages. VG31-irl 16:49, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at the original discussion for this and unlike in the USA where the likes of Delta Connection have many airlines operating their flights; typically in Europe regional subsidiaries like Aer Lingus Regional have only one airline operating for them (Stobart Air). The inclusion of the operating airline provides encyclopaedic value and since there is only one operating airline does not make the destination table look messy like it did for US airports. Thanks, VG31-irl 17:01, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Right, but the goal was to have it look uniform throughout WP. Widespread implementation of the original change wasn't made for most European airports, but it's something we should do when we can. I agree there is some encyclopedic value, but if you click on Aer Lingus Regional, it will provide you with the operating airline(s) and more information. Here are my thoughts on Lufthansa from the Frankfurt Airport page. In terms of Lufthansa, Lufthansa City Line should just be listed as Lufthansa City Line, not Lufthansa operated by Lufthansa City Line because City Line is the brand (in addition to the operating carrier) for those flights. However, when CityLine is operating on behalf of Lufthansa Regional, only Lufthansa Regional should be listed because that is the brand (the planes say Lufthansa Regional). I know it's confusing haha, does that make any sense? Tofutwitch11 (TALK) 17:53, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Aegean Airlines destinations

[edit]

You reverted @Theo1994 edit claiming "Amadeus is not a reliable source". Aegean uses mainly Amadeus, why did you revert their edit? Thakaran (talk) 00:55, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Amadeus is just a booking engine. Using Skyscanner as a reference would not be much different. You need to use the Aegean Airlines timetable, a newspaper article, announcement at the airport website etc. Thanks, VG31-irl 12:41, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Where did this come from? The booking engine the airline uses is not a reliable source? You should read about GDSs, Amadeus is a GDS, Skyscanner is a price comparison website. Thakaran (talk) 21:37, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It does seem to be fairly reliable. There are still better sources to use though. Thanks, VG31-irl 22:55, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In your opinion. Anyway, until you find out more about Amadeus, please do not remove information referenced by it. Thank you. Thakaran (talk) 18:37, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Aer Lingus Fleet

[edit]

Further to your recent edits at Aer Lingus, please note that fleet data is reliably sourced at each month end from the national aircraft register, the preferred source for this information. Please wait until the register is updated to 31 October, in a few days time. Flickr, blogs, forums and fansites / unofficial pages are not reliable sources. Thanks. SempreVolando (talk) 04:55, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I estimate for around 90% of airline pages this is not the case. I can't see what's wrong with updating as the information becomes available. I suppose the multiple sources showing that EI-EPS is withdrawn are all wrong and the photo of it in Vueling colours is fake. I find those fan sites to be reliable sources, I would not use them if I thought they were unreliable. You have no basis for deeming them inaccurate. Is there consensus for this monthly updating? And why did you remove the livery details I added? This important information of encyclopaedic value. There are lots of airline pages that have this special livery information.VG31-irl 07:53, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi and thanks for your response. The problem in this case is that a clearly reliable and regularly updated source is available for the Aer Lingus fleet, and your sources are unreliable (per WP:RS, not my assertion). Wikipedia is about Verifiability, not truth. The Flickr picture of EI-EPS used as a reference is a case in point - despite the aircraft having been repainted, it remained not only on the Irish register on that day but as of 31 October 2015 remained legally registered to Aer Lingus, per the IAA database. Perhaps by the 30 November IAA update it will have been transferred to Vueling, but for now it has not been as not reliable sources can state so.
Regarding livery details, WP:AIRLINE-FLEET-LIST states that "Other than the number of seats other information on the aircraft (for example engines fitted, Boeing customer codes or wingtip devices) should not be included.". Special liveries fall into this category - Wikipedia is not a spotter's guide. If you could direct me to other examples of special livery information on Wikipedia I would appreciate it as it almost never has encyclopaedic notability and should be removed. I have found and addressed some cases on other Irish airline pages, but I don't believe it to be a widespread problem.
Meanwhile the Aer Lingus fleet listing has been returned to the latest reliable source (now at 31 October 2015), and I would encourage you to raise any concerns you might have at the article talk page in order to allow the involvement of other editors too. Thanks! SempreVolando (talk) 19:52, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Athens International Airport

[edit]

You removed Ryanair from the list of airlines serving Athens as a focus city. According to Wikipedia, a focus city is an airport from which an airline flies to many destinations, although the airport is not a hub for that airline. Accepting the fact that Ryanair does not use hubs, why did you remove it form the list? Thakaran (talk) 18:36, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A focus city is like a mini hub. Ryanair do not use any form of hub as they do not transfer passengers. Ryanair only have bases. Thanks, VG31-irl 18:38, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
From Focus city:
In the airline industry, a focus city is a location that is not a hub, but from which the airline has non-stop flights to several destinations other than its hubs. Thakaran (talk) 18:44, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't go by that article. Pretty much every sentence has citation needed after it. No other airport pages have Ryanair listed under hubs/focus cities. VG31-irl 20:28, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Il Caravaggio International Airport, Alicante–Elche Airport, Barcelona–El Prat Airport, Bratislava Airport, Bremen Airport, Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport and those are only the ones serving cities starting with a B. Most airports Ryanair uses as a base list Ryanair. Please revert your change. Thakaran (talk) 21:34, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ryanair would have to be transferring passengers for it to be a focus city. Someone else will remove it if I don't. VG31-irl 07:52, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Airport vandal?

[edit]

Hello. Sorry to bother you, but can you check the edits that 117.239.119.210 (talk · contribs) made to all those airport pages? Are they all vandalism? If so we'll need to go back through and fix all the introduced mistakes. If it's the case, I'll also block the IP, but I'd like to verify that it's all malicious/incorrect additions. NativeForeigner Talk 18:35, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

At first glance the edits may not look like vandalism, but they are changing the order of the busiest routes lists on airport pages when there is no reason to do so. The only edit I can see that is not vandalism is an edit to Heathrow Airport on 19 September 2015. VG31-irl 19:02, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

SNN

[edit]

Is it really necessary to list ASL service to Croatia from SNN as there is only two flights scheduled ORK/NOC services are not listed and only operate 2-3 times as well. Jamie2k9 (talk) 02:21, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't know that it is that infrequent. I have removed it. VG31 12:44, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think they were more frequent in previous years but 3 main operators are only showing 2 or 3 services. Reservations for ORK-JER were closed on 21 December (same day as NQY added, same slots). Timetable only gets updated every few weeks since the new website, used to once weekly update on the old one. RTE press relase this week stated 9 EIR routes ex ORK this summer, JER would mean 10. http://www.rte.ie/news/business/2017/0106/843056-aer-lingus-regional-announces-new-cork-route/ Jamie2k9 (talk) 14:37, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As a matter of interest, who are the main operators for that charter? I thought it was croatia.ie but I could only find flights from Dublin and Belfast on their site. OK, I see that now from the booking engine. I presumed the timetable would be correct. VG31 19:22, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It is croatia.ie, Cork-Split has 3 flights, Shannon-Dubrovnik 2 flights, Knock-Split 2 fligts. DUB appears to be a weekly ASL service this year don't think it was as regular last year. If you click on Search to Book on homepage and all services come up that way. Jamie2k9 (talk) 21:57, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

STV Electoral Template

[edit]

I'm not sure how it appears for you, but a large number of empty boxes appear for me following your edits. Better to omit them. They're not used in the template in previous election cycles because there's no need for a box for an eliminated candidate. Please stop adding them back in - they serve no purpose, defy standard practice, and don't make it easier to add new data. Maswimelleu (talk) 19:19, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

GLA to DUS

[edit]

Yes the route operates for 12 months however it stops for a period in January so it's therefore seasonal.

It stops for one week, that's not enough to make a route 'seasonal' (https://s30.postimg.org/mew8qe8xd/image.png). VG31 12:39, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Air Berlin

[edit]

I've been told it's a mistake and ASL will continue to rune Salzburg charter, check again in a few weeks and it should be displayed properly. "AB" entered instead of "AG" and changed the carrier!

It says Air Berlin though so leave it that way and if it changes in the future it can be updated according. Thanks, VG31 14:21, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You must wait until the official candidate lists are published. Candidates informally announcing their intention to run isn't enough. VG31 09:38, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If you wish to discuss this further, take it to the project talk page but please don't continue making these edits are their is no consensus or precedent for them. Thanks, VG31 09:41, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Having been a Wikipedia user for many years I know for sure that there is indeed precedent for adding candidates officially selected to run by their respective political party to contest the next general election. I would ask that you please refrain from deleting such additions to constituency pages. Thanks. Mcloughlinjoe76 (talk) 20:13, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but the candidate lists have not been published yet. At the moment not many politicians have stated their intention to run (as an election has not been called yet!) You have to wait until the official lists are published so all candidates can be added and not just Labour Party candidates. As I said before, take this to the project talk page if you think you are correct. VG31 20:16, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The name of the Irish State is Ireland in accordance with article 4 of the Constitution of Ireland. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8084:2561:8280:C0C9:A9A9:90F7:12E7 (talk) 22:22, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ethiopian Airlines Lisbon Airport

[edit]

There are no Ethiopian Airlines flights to Lisbon. The opening of the aerial line did not materialize

November 2018

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Charles (talk) 19:05, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How is adding new airline destinations 'promotional material'. In that case most Wikipedia articles could be considered 'promotional'. Maybe actually have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Airports/page content for the format for destination table; agreed by consensus rather than just one user making it up as they go along. If you have such an issue take it up at the project talk page. It would help if you could engage properly instead of dumping template messages on my and other user's talk pages. Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Rijeka Airport, you may be blocked from editing. Charles (talk) 20:30, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Again, you need to engage; not just post template messages. VG31 20:33, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, you may be blocked from editing. Charles (talk) 19:14, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You know that there nothing from promotional about it. Maybe actually engage with other editors instead of posting generic warning messages. VG31 22:38, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Dublin City Council, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chris Andrews (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
