Reception

[edit]

OCN announced that the VOD rights for “Voice” were sold to 56 countries including the United States, Canada, France, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Singapore, and more.[42][43]

Controversy

[edit]

Halfway airing through the series, the drama was submitted for Korea's censorship board review due to viewers' complaints of it showing excessive violence.[44][45] It was subsequently issued an advisory warning.[46] OCN then changed its viewing rating from the original of 15+ to 19+ for episodes 11, 12 and 16 in order to make the story as realistic as possible.[47][48]

Viewership

[edit]

Ratings for the first season set new records for OCN dramas when it aired in South Korea, proving to be a hit among viewers. It is one of the highest rated dramas in Korean cable television history and ranked first among cable TV dramas for many consecutive weeks.[49][50][51]

Upon its premiere, the second season set the record for the highest premiere rating of an OCN television series.[52] Despite its shorter run, the second season surpassed the first season's ratings and eventually became the highest-rated OCN television series, breaking viewership records previously held by Tunnel (2017).[53]
