[edit]Ultimately from Ancient Greek ὄγκος (ónkos, “lump, mass, bulk”), with -ло́гія (-lóhija) ending from Ancient Greek -λογία (-logía). Compare Russian онколо́гия (onkológija), Belarusian анкало́гія (ankalóhija), Polish onkologia.
