When you add nouns

[edit]

Besides things already discussed, pl=ekh, pl=kh, and pl=es would be nice. They don't come up too often, but I reckon it's worth adding. I can collate other requests related to pluralisation if you want. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 20:26, 18 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

We've already mentioned that nouns and proper nouns need to have a parameter for the oblique form to be added. However, no mention has been made of possessives. Overall, it seems that we've chosen not to include possessives, with are regularly formed, but there is a handful of nouns with irregular possessive forms. I assume these should be in the headword-line, in which case they will need a parameter as well. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 00:24, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Metaknowledge: Can you give some examples of nouns with irregular possessives so that I know what you're talking about? The reason we generally don't include them is that, much like in English, they are clitics rather than suffixes and are tacked on to the last part of the noun phrase (אוריאלס בוך, but אוריאל ווײַנרײַכס בוך, and even פֿאָטער און מוטערס הויז). --WikiTiki89 01:09, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
For the possessive singular of yid, you'd expect yids, but instead it's yidns in Standard Yiddish. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 02:33, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
That's expected, because the possessive suffix is added to the dative, and ייִד is one of the words that takes the oblique suffix. --WikiTiki89 15:09, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Problems

[edit]

At קומען צו גאַסט, the substituent words are not automatically linked in the headword line. I see this as a bug, rather than a feature. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 06:08, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it is a bug. I will look into it. --WikiTiki89 16:39, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Auxiliary in headword line for verbs

[edit]

Following the example of German, I think we should have the auxiliary be given in the headword line, with hobn as default. Those with zayn could have it added to the headword-line template by bot (but only to existing entries that have conjugation sections; I could try to add all the needed conjugation sections first, but then that impinges on the conjugation module being expanded first). Anyway, it may not be immediately feasible, but this is definitely something I think we should do. (One temporary measure would be to have the default show nothing, to avoid having any inaccuracies, and only show hobn once we've gone through all the verbs and ascertained that there aren't any unlabelled zayn verbs.) —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 23:44, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Probably a good idea. --WikiTiki89 23:46, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Accel

[edit]

I noticed this line:

accel = inflection.accel and form.tr and ("transliteration-" .. form.tr:gsub(" ", "_"))

It looks like it was intended to add inflection.accel, but the actual code adds only the transliteration and not the form tag itself. —Rua (mew) 12:28, 9 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
