patch box (plural patch boxes)

  1. (historical, cosmetics) A fancy box, generally with a mirror under the lid, for holding artificial beauty spots, or patches, worn on the face.
  2. (firearms) A lidded container fitted to a gun to hold the cloth patches used when shooting round shot.
