Unknown, but probably from a pre-Roman substrate of Iberia/Iberian;[1][2] related to Portuguese enxurro and Portuguese enxurrada (flash flood), Portuguese surro (dirt), and Spanish churre (grime). Also related to several current places named Xudres and Zudres, in local Medieval Latin Scudris, Sudris and Xudris.
