Collaboration

The Faculty has a special partnership with Matís ohf, a public corporation that carries out research and innovation mostly within the food sciences. Several students work on their graduate research project at Matís, with the goal of increasing the international competitiveness of Icelandic food production and encouraging health and safety of food products. Collaboration is also strong and tight-knit with many departments of the University Hospital, the Directorate of Health, the Primary Health Care, the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority (MAST), the University of Akureyri and Hólar University College, as well as numerous businesses in food production. Moreover, teachers from different faculties at the University of Iceland are engaged in great interdisciplinary research collaborations.

The Faculty also actively collaborates with several departments of the Landspítali - University Hospital, Public Health Institute, Centre for Child Health Services, and several industry partners. Graduate studies in Nutrition take place within the Unit for Nutrition Research, located at Eiriksgata 29, where students can have their workstations.

Lecturers at the Faculty are also active in collaborating with respected universities in Europe and the United States, including 30 research groups at international universities and institutions, as well as connections with several other international parties.

The teachers of the Faculty are in highly active collaboration with many research groups in reputable European and American Universities and institutions as well as with many other foreign members.

Students are given an opportunity to connect to the professional sector, and gain experience in communication with domestic and international parties during their studies, which is invaluable for students after graduation. Both undergraduate and graduate students therefore have opportunities for extensive experience through international relations.
