Mayer y Salovey (1997) sostienen que los trabajadores con alta IE son
exitosos en proyectos que involucran decisiones complejas. En las
aplicaciones laborales del modelo de habilidad, Mayer et al. (2000a)
sostienen que para liderar y manejar personas es decir, para lograr
una gestin efectiva se requiere habilidades tcnicas y
emocionales. Las habilidades emocionales se basan principalmente
en la capacidad para liderar personas y, por tanto, para generar un
trabajo grupal efectivo.

Una de las limitaciones de esta teora es que Piaget crea que estaba
estudiando todo sobre la inteligencia y la cognicin, pero en
realidad su campo de visin era ms limitado ya que se interesaba
fundamentalmente por las competencias del cientfico, creyendo
que la comprensin matemtica era el centro del intelecto.
