The authors of the article focus their attention to the role played by competition in ICT management, professors and students of the University in achieving best quality indicators. Using research methods: documentary analysis, interviews with experts and group techniques, it is performed a tour programs and projections of universities in Latin American countries: Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Colombia. It deepens particularly Malbernat works and other authors who provide a general guideline and carry out an in-depth study of the subject and its application in different universities. At the same time are evaluated several educational technologies most commonly used today; integrating the results of both analyses, is a proposal for how strengthen competition in ICT for influencing the indicators of quality of the University of Guayaquil, to influence of forms positive outcomes of institutional accreditation.

The Ecuadorian University is in a process of changes and adjustments, which are led by the national Government. The objective of this policy is the get quality universities, be they public or private, that provide a more adequate preparation for the present time. Based on certain parameters, the universities have been catalogued and those universities that not can climb in category will be closed of way definitive. The University of Guayaquil, the most numerous of the Ecuador, is currently classified in D category and must upload category in its next assessment. The intention of this paper is to expose how with the help of technology can contribute to increase the so-called academic indicator and thus contribute to the improvement of the categorization of the University of Guayaquil to thereby assist in maintaining a category in future evaluations and avoid the social impact that an eventual closing of the said University.
