El objetivo de la presente contribucion es discutir y ofecer nuevas evidencias relacionadas con l... more El objetivo de la presente contribucion es discutir y ofecer nuevas evidencias relacionadas con la ocupacion prehispanica y colonial temprana en la localidad de Tilcara (Quebrada de Humahuaca, Jujuy), entendiendo esta ultima como el registro arqueologico recuperado tanto en la planta urbana como en el sector delimitado entre los rios Grande, Huasamayo y el cordon montanoso correspondiente al cerro Negro. La ocupacion, de acuerdo con las investigaciones recientes, se habria iniciado a partir del primer milenio y se extendio en adelante de manera alternada. Es decir que en el actual poblado de Tilcara se registran evidencias que integrarian, en emplazamientos diferentes, las ocupaciones desde las primeras aldeas hasta tiempos historicos, lo que pone en evidencia los intensos procesos de ocupacion.
El objetivo de la presente contribución es dar a conocer la problemática del sitio Salvatierra, l... more El objetivo de la presente contribución es dar a conocer la problemática del sitio Salvatierra, localizado en Cachi, partiendo de las investigaciones arqueológicas desarrolladas en el contexto doméstico. En referencia a este, se describen las condiciones de hallazgo, sumado a los elementos materiales recuperados y aproximaciones a las estructuras arquitectónicas presentes, considerando que se trata de una de las primeras evidencias a cielo abierto para el Formativo Temprano (3500-2400 AP). Finalmente, se brinda el detalle de los resultados radiocarbónicos obtenidos y se discute la correlación del sitio en el marco de la perspectiva regional. This palaeogenetic study focused on the analysis of a late prehispanic Argentinean group from the... more This palaeogenetic study focused on the analysis of a late prehispanic Argentinean group from the Humahuaca valley, with the main aim of reconstructing its (micro)evolutionary history. The Humahuaca valley, a natural passageway from the eastern plains to the highlands, was the living environment of Andean societies whose cultural but especially biological diversity is still poorly understood. We analyzed the DNA extracted from 39 individuals who populated this upper valley during the Regional Development period (RDP) (between the 11th and 15th centuries CE), to determine their maternal and paternal genetic ancestry. Some mitochondrial and Y-chromosomal haplotypes specific to the Andean region are consistent with an origin in the highlands of Central Andes. On the other hand, a significant genetic affinity with contemporary admixed communities of the Chaco area was detected.
