Especially communication processes between the police authorities, private security services, town councils, supporters and other spectators have often been neglected. Communication processes in the context of football matches can encounter technical limitations. Traditional communication channels are often characterized by a one-way communication structure, delayed forwarding of information or limited quality (e.g., stadium announcements). To address these problems, a new communication platform is explored. The semantic basis for this platform is formed by an ontology. The usage and benefits of the ontology are manifold: 1) The design process created a better understanding among the stakeholders. 2) The actors, roles and their relations are used for information filtering and access restrictions. 3) The relations of the ontology are used for structuring the information and navigating thro...

Based on the assumption, that a well-informed decision maker can make the best decisions, s/he should have access to all available information. Thus, employing both internal and external data empowers decision makers. Since natural disasters are usually limited to a certain (previously unknown) area, it is of high importance to get to know about the local context of a disaster. Critical infrastructure, such as hospitals, energy supply, buildings with vulnerable beings (kindergarten, elder care, etc.) play an important role in crisis management. Nevertheless, a decision maker might not be aware of all of these places; yet, knowledge about these can often be found in external, public knowledge bases, such as Wikidata. Semantic Web Technology offers tools to integrate data from diverse data stores, offering a giant source of information. To improve situati...

4.7 „Empfehlungen“).

The framework presented here supports the implementation of human-centric context-aware applications providing non-obtrusive assistance to participants in events such as meetings, lectures, conferences and presentations taking place in indoor “smart spaces”. We emphasize on the design and implementation of an agent-based framework that supports “pluggable” service logic in the sense that the service developer can concentrate on coding the service logic independently of the underlying middleware. Furthermore, we give an example of the architecture’s ability to support the cooperation of multiple services in a meeting scenario using an intelligent connector service and a semantic web oriented travel service.

The architecture is described in detail and the main benefits are highlighted. We especially address the integration of privacy-by-design principles by usage control capabilities. Due to the flexible architecture, the system can be adapted to special operation tasks. We will present here different modules and interfaces that have been developed for the scenario of searching a specific person that has left an object (e.g. suitcase). This may be due to the inattention of the person itself, but it could also be on purpose, e.g., when am explosive device is hidden inside. If such an abandoned object is detected, the task is to find the person as soon as possible. The NEST system is therefore expanded by a database including metadata, a timeline interaction, and a module that is able to search for similar persons as identified at the suspicious object.

The implementation of the created schedule and the improvement of Key Performance Indicators depends strongly on the quality of the master data. The master data of most enterprises ages or the enterprises cannot fully provide it, because a highly manual expense for statistical analysis and administration is needed. The presented approach uses the gathered information from Production Data Acquisition and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) to build the missing aspects of master data or to correct the existing one. After the correction of typical aspects like process dependencies, durations or changeover times a significant increase of schedule implementation is noticed.

It consists of multiple process steps which are executed sequentially. All the different disciplines work on the common planning object – the plant – consisting of complex mechatronic objects and parts. Nevertheless, the disciplines work spatially and technically separated from each other within their isolated planning steps. Cooperation is only practiced at specific points of the plant planning process. The Digital Engineering Table (DigET) enables the necessary interpersonal and interdisciplinary cooperation in an interactive environment and uses therefore the integrated data exchange format AutomationML. This contribution describes the requirements and decisions for the necessary middleware as coordinating infrastructure.

Moreover, such networks often form an isolated system that needs to be connected to other network systems. Therefore, a system-of-systems approach is required. A sensor registry is the central part of a distributed sensor network. In this paper, we describe how to enhance sensor registries with semantic technologies in order to overcome some of their limitations. The Sensor Web Enablement standards of the Open Geospatial Consortium constitute a consistent and flexible framework in order to assure syntactical interoperability between applications, which make abundant use of data from sensor networks operated by heterogeneous stakeholders. The data model used throughout these standards is the Observation & Measurement model. The conversion into an ontology provides an easier handling of the model. In this paper, we propose the use of such an ontology as the basis of a Semantic Registry. Besides providing the information about the available sensor infrastructure and their semantically rich annotations, it can easily be extended to handle for example information about available services for data analysis or simulations. Furthermore, the resilience of the SRs is a crucial point in the system architecture to prevent it becoming a single point of failure.
