It highlights various areas in which the pandemic is stretching the thinking of libraries to embrace new innovations. Thereby, it creates a new environment for libraries to work. It also outlines the SWOT of COVID-19 for libraries, especially the intensive, drastic adoption and deployment of technological innovations that have been under-utilised over the years. It is no doubt that new innovation for services delivery were birthed in the lockdown globally by libraries and other organisations. Similarly, it evaluates the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) associated with the new innovation for libraries in era of the COVID-19 pandemic. Useful recommendations were made.

The objectives of the study were to: examine information literacy rate among the undergraduate students; ascertain the importance of information literacy in the fight against Covid 19 pandemic and investigate the impact of social media on information dissemination on Covid 19 pandemic. Survey research design of descriptive type was used to generate data from participants. The data retrieved was subjected to descriptive analysis. The population consisted of 390 undergraduate students of Geography and Regional planning Department, Benue state university Makurdi, with the sample of 77 using stratify proportional sampling technique. The paper revealed among others that, most of what undergraduate student of geography and regional planning Benue state university Makurdi "Like", "share" or recommend online is often as a result of they believe rather than concerns about human right & development implications; only a small percentage of the student critically evaluate information before believing it; media information literacy empowers people to be curious to understand their information needs & use for common good; information literacy is important in the fight against Covid-19 and most Covid 19 information on the social media is overhyped and misleading. The paper recommended that, Governments, academics, digital platforms, fact checkers, concerned institutions and the public urgently need a collective understanding of what is meant by the terms mis-, and dis-information (infodemic) to check the future damage from the scourge.

The purpose of this study was to identify the methods of acquisitions and provision of access to ... more The purpose of this study was to identify the methods of acquisitions and provision of access to electronic resources: challenges of Federal University Libraries in the Northcentral State of Nigeria. A qualitative research method was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised of fourteen (14) respondents which include all Federal University Librarians seven (7) and E-resources Acquisition Librarians Seven (7). Purposive sampling techniques were used in selecting the respondents, structured focus groups interview was the instrument used for data collection, data collected was analyzed using narrative analysis. The study revealed that subscription and purchase are the major methods of acquisition of electronic resources; while Internet connectivity and OPAC/library website are the facilities used for the provision of access to electronic resources. However, inadequate budget allocation, high cost of the subscription fee, unreliable power supply, inadequate network computers, poor network access, and non-existence of off-campus access to university subscriptions are the challenges experienced by the libraries understudy in the acquisition and provision of access to electronic resources. The study recommends that University Librarians should choose co-operative acquisition and resource sharing to reduce the cost of subscription and manage a tight budget, improve their internet bandwidth and special software like SFX should be provided in the libraries to alleviate the problem of overlapping of the same title by providers.

This paper examines the resources and services of the university library in 2012/2013 session using a questionnaire as research instrument. This is to see how university resources can improve in order to achieve the expected results. Though the findings reveal that the respondents agreed that the services rendered in the library are quite satisfactory, they however, with the fact that there are adequate resources and materials for conducive research work. The study concludes and recommended that, the University Library should be properly funded to acquire adequate information resources mainly books and electronic databases in response to increased students' enrolment and introduction of new courses.

This study examined the utilization of ICT tools for lecture preparation and delivery in Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria. Quantitative research, particularly the descriptive survey method was adopted. The population for the study consists of 165 lecturers in the institution, of which a sample of 88 lecturers was drawn from the two existing faculties (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Faculty of Sciences) which represents 53.3% of the total population. Questionnaire was designed to collect data for the study and descriptive statistical method was used to analyze and interpret the data collected. The findings revealed that the ICTs that are readily available to lecturers for lecture preparation and delivery are internet, online databases, internet ready computers, handheld devices, scanner/printers, social media platform and photocopying machine. Furthermore, the lecturers are knowledgeable on the use of ICT, but only a half of them utilize ICTs for lecture preparation and delivery. The challenges limiting the utilization of ICT tools for lecture delivery includes: inadequate ICT facilities, epileptic power supply, poor internet services and lack of funds. The study concludes that the use of ICTs is essential to stimulate a new atmosphere where lecturers could utilize these technologies for effective instructional delivery and to enhance academic excellence. Therefore, the acquisition of adequate ICT facilities and effectively placing them in all departments and lecture rooms, including active student's engagement in the use of ICTs for academic work were recommended.
