The developments in information and technology in the 20 th century has changed, transformed and ... more The developments in information and technology in the 20 th century has changed, transformed and accelerated every discipline from medicine to industry, from engineering to architecture. Through many digital platforms resulted from developments in information technologies, architecture has faced with a paradigmatic transformation. Widespread use of computers in design, manufacturing, management etc. has affected architectural processes and finally a new approach has been adopted; "designing the design process". The use of computer aided tools (CAD/CAM), adopted by the building industry and affect the entire construction process from design to production, freed designers in form, structure, material selection and innovative usage of it. Through digital technologies forms and structures have easily been handled with new alternatives, and the optimized ones have been selected and produced. The design perception has also affected by computational technologies and has revealed the "parametric design" approach and thus "rule based design and production" period has begun. The approach that all stakeholders involved in design and production process could have master this rules set has paved the way for the development of Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems. Capable of providing all kinds of data needed in the structure in a single file, BIM, transforms building design, delivery and operating methods and standards through object-based parametric modeling. In this context, this study focuses on how BIM technologies are integrated into architectural design. Highlighting the consequences of computational technologies in the design and production of architecture, it has aimed to emphasize the potentials of BIM technologies and examine the difference between the use of CAD and BIM in architecture. BIM applications in architecture having different forms and functions such as houses, museums, multipurpose halls, airports etc. have been evaluated in terms of the advantages in AEC industry. It is seen that, each architectural application provides specific aspects of the BIM process and focuses on the methods of using the existing BIM tools to maximize utility. With a critical perspective, in order to better understand the use of BIM in the design and construction industry in terms of conceptual design, detail design, feasibility, coordination, construction planning, logistics, operations and other construction activities the answers for the questions "What are the advantages and challenges of BIM in the AEC industry?" and "How BIM can be adopted and implemented into the architectural design process?" have been questioned.

Climate-oriented solutions in traditional buildings are rooted in the lessons from several generations of experience, using local material, technology and labour, without sacrificing comfort. They are also responsive to their natural environment and energy-efficient. This study identifies climateresponsive design approaches in the traditional Tabriz houses, located in the cold-arid climatic zone. For this purpose, 10 traditional houses identified in various studies were examined and compared.

It does not only shape designs, but also is based on collaborative/interactive/creative methods in education and can be integrated with contemporary educational approaches. This paper questions how to translate the bio-knowledge, which can be an effective and useful method for developing designers’ skills such as system-thinking, innovative thinking and problem-based learning, to design education in an easy and understandable way. In this context, the method of determining and applying biological phenomena/systems into architectural design process through the “natural language approach” is investigated. With this research, it is aimed to open the way to reach more innovative and sustainable solutions by establishing a bridge between architectural and biological terminology while creating arc...

Since then, the use of CAD from drafting to complex solid modeling and manufacturing in design studios has been mostly achieved. Yet, persisting on the discussions within the same context, mostly focusing on the studio education and CAD/CAM rather than “CAAD” avoids inquiring other potentials of them as being a learning and implementation media of different knowledge domains. In this context this papers presents a discussion on andragogic learning by the integration of simulation technologies to architectural education to synthesize the fragmented knowledge that provides new learning media.

Environmental problems have become a reality that should be discussed at many levels and the solutions are being tried to be produced. Factors such as increase in population started with the industrial revolution, the problem of unplanned urbanization and increasing level of comfort expected from the built environments let misuse of natural resources, the release of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and then ecosystem faced with serious environmental problems. In this context, the relationship with the natural environment should be questioned and reconstructed. Undoubtedly, the discipline of architecture that is one of the most active actors in the built environment, plays an important role in reconstructing this interaction. In this regard, sustainability has been an important area of research in architecture as well as in many disciplines, and significant amounts of budget and time have been used by investors/researchers to shape and initiate initiatives in this area. As digital technologies become part of design in different levels, many fields such as complex algorithms, simulation software, nanotechnology, genetics, robotics and computer technology, which are rapidly evolving do not only change the design thinking and design process in the field of architecture but also can be applied to other fields such as production, operation, use, maintenance/repair, and has the potential to create a new system. The use of robots-as they are in all manufacturing industries-is seen as one of the developments in the architectural world as revolution. Robotic arms can perform operations far beyond traditional CAD-CAM processes. They provide opportunities to produce complex forms and lead to the definition of new production processes. It is possible to say that robotization has become inevitable in when productivity, standardization and quality are important in production. In this context, this paper focuses on industrial robots among "computer-controlled production machines". In addition to the possibility that robots can produce "complex" forms, the concept of "craftsmanship" which is one of the most important consequences of transformation in the field of architecture has been discussed. Furthermore, the high performance demonstrated in the architectural constructions regarding sustainability (the use of recycled materials and construction wastes as raw materials, rapid and precise production, minimum waste etc.) has been examined. In this study, where the answers of the question have been searched for whether the usage of robotics in architecture could be the pioneers of the change for sustainable built environments? It is seen that the paradigmatic transition and transformation that has taken place has also bringing a new era in the field of architecture.
