Rom and the gang get an icy reception in the arctic.
Official release coming!
This Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos section |
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
Rom, Rod Drill, Blue Jet, Leina, Triple Jim and Battleflex have follow the Wolf Sword's directions to Cronos' arctic region near the planet's perilous north pole, where they discover some mysterious tracks that make them suspicious of potential Gyandlar activity. Not without reason too; unknown to them, the band are being tracked by Gadess from the Gyandlar mother-ship in orbit above the planet. Diondra and some troops are the source of the tracks, again searching for the Hyribead, and Gadess tells them of the approaching travellers. Drill meanwhile creates a cave for his friends to rest in but they are attacked by Diondra and Zagam, a Gyandlar soldier who has easily adapted to the cold. Rom sets off with Jet to draw the enemy's attention while Drill gets Jim and Leina to safety. However, Zagam tracks Drill instead as Diondra and the troopers keep Rom and Jet busy. Drill struggles against Zagam's specialist arctic fighting skills; during the subsequent battle however Zagam falls under the ice with Leina.
Diondra is unable to defeat Rom and Jet, though she comes close to ensnaring Rom with her whip before Jet intervenes. She withdraws her troopers, swearing vengeance against Zagam for disappearing in the battle. Under the ground, Zagam is about to leave Leina for dead when he notices her striking resemblance to his long-dead lover Elura, who was killed in an avalanche when a shard of ice pierced her body. Zaham rescues her before she completely freezes to death, and returns her to Rom without being seen. Zagam then reports back to Diondra, who sends him to attack again. This time he goes through the ice with Rom, who summons Kenryū to fight him. In the subsequent battle, Zagam is mortally injured and chooses to die under the ice with his memories of Elura. Rom reunites with the others and Leina notices a Wolf Emblem shining on one of the mountains. It disappears, leaving the Hyribead a mystery still.

Notes[edit | edit source]
- The temperature under the ice is -273°C, i.e. absolute zero - a temperature where Machine Robo can only survive for around five minutes. This may not be scientifically accurate.
- Rod not only makes a huge ice cave for his pals but also carves them furniture, including a couch.
- Numerous frozen Machine Robo are seen but the only one clearly identifiable is Ambulance Robo, who makes an ignominious first appearance of the series.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- This is the first episode not to feature Baikanfu or Devil Satan 6. The only other episode Baikanfu will be absent for is "Power Riser, Break Through the Enemy!".
