I am currently in the process of changing career paths, and in doing so I am also learning Japanese to make the change easier. I originally wanted to own a restaurant, however found that my true passion lies in teaching. With this in mind I have re-joined the academic community at Grand Canyon University. My first goal is to obtain my Bachelor of Arts degree in English for Secondary Education. Upon completion of the Bachelor course work I will go into the Master's program for T.E.S.O.L.
Educational Background: I currently hold two associate degrees. The first degree I obtained is an Associate in Arts for Culinary Arts through The Art Institute of California- San Diego. The second degree I obtained is an Associate Degree in Business Office Administration. For a few years I had thought that I wanted to open my own restaurant, which is what prompted me to obtain both degrees I now hold. I have found with time that it is not where my heart truly lies, and have decided to pursue a master's level degree in TESOL education.
What I enjoy most about attending classes is the fact that you are never too old to learn something new and challenge yourself to change direction when life becomes stagnant. As Henry Ford stated "Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young." I wholeheartedly agree with this mind set and intend to constantly learn whether in a classroom, on-line, or from life itself.
I find the most challenging thing in any school is to find my rhythm, however once it's found it is not easily broken. I hope to find the right rhythm to follow quickly so that I am able to succeed inside and outside of my classes.
Professional Background: Professionally speaking I have over twelve years of customer service experience. I have worked in food establishments, retail and as an administrative assistant. Each position held was a learning experience in its own way. In dealing with people from all walks of life I feel that I am better prepared for the education I am now starting. This is because even adults are students, constantly learning new things. With this outlook, I intend to move forward and help children find their footing and the path they wish to take. I also intend to be a part of the teaching abroad program to expand my own knowledge of what is happening in the world.
Personal Interests: In my spare time I enjoy reading, painting, and other arts and crafts projects. To elaborate, I crochet scarves and handbags, as well as make mini-top hat hair clips for friends and family. In terms of reading, I enjoy fantasy, science fiction, steampunk, comic books (yes I am a nerd) and the occasional biography. I also to this day enjoy table top and computer gaming. Being a comic book fan I love the Marvel and DC universes. There are so many great movies and television series based around these two titans in the comic book world.
Finding My Purpose: My goal once I have obtained my Master’s degree is to travel to other countries, such as Japan to teach English to the children placed in my care for however long the class runs. I chose Grand Canyon University as the school for me based on the overwhelming sense of belonging when I met my adviser for the first time over the phone. In obtaining this degree I will not only be over qualified to go to other countries to teach, it will enable me to find a great career in the states once I return from teaching abroad. I will be enabled to share my passion for learning with others and hopefully inspire some to become teachers themselves.edit

Allegory is a strange thing, and when looking at these two works one might not even notice that they share a common concept. Where "The Pilgrim's Progress" is a focus in spiritual allegory, "Gulliver's Travels" is political; these two appear to be separate in what they wish to convey, however this is not the case. Both works convey what the measure of a moral man of the time should be through the perspective of the authors.

It was not until 1914, the start of World War I that the movement gained enough momentum, though, to be truly recognized as having an impact in literature.
