Occupational safety is an essential element in the prevention of occupational accidents, but more... more Occupational safety is an essential element in the prevention of occupational accidents, but more importantly, employees should be aware of the necessity of occupational safety and must avoid dangerous movements that can cause accidents. The safe behavior of employees can be considered as the most important factor in preventing occupational accidents, especially in the construction industry where work place accidents are very common. Working conditions in the construction sector have been changing because of rapid development of technology. Also, demand for different construction types has been increasing. The most difficult task is undertaken by workers to meet this increased demand. Working conditions have become inharmonious because of the need to meet the demand and the construction with the costumer and also the difference between the working areas. This situation brings about the employees are treated like machines and forced to work in hazardous areas. The most common reasons of accidents in this sector are mainly the various dangers arise from the structural features of the sector, lack of knowledge about the conditions of occupational health and safety, not to change the standard working style and the desire of employers to make more profit. The aim of occupational safety in this sector is to diminish the level of the workplace accidents and to make workers conscious of the issue consequently transforming their safety attitudes to a culture. The aim of this paper is to investigate the opinions of workers in construction areas on occupational health and safety. For this purpose, a questionnaire is conducted and applied in various construction sites in Niğde. The obtained results are thoroughly analyzed by SPSS 24 packet programme.

Genetic algorithm transport energy demand (GATENDM) model is developed based on socio-economic indicators (population, gross domestic product (GDP), import and export) and transportation indicators/parameters (car, bus, and truck sales). The GATENDM model developed is applied to Turkey, which is selected as an application country. This model in a quadratic form was found to provide the best fit solution to the observed data. It may be concluded that the model proposed can be used as an alternative solution and estimation technique to available estimation technique in predicting the future transportation energy utilization values of countries.

The first part of this study included a theoretical analysis for determining the potential for heat recovery at these temperature stages. Second part stated an application in the industrial sector. This study is conducted using actual data for this sector from 1990 to 2011. The total available energy recovery from waste heat recovery appliances for products, flue gas and wall heat recovery was calculated to be 224–503 PJ over the years studied. The available waste heat potential from the total energy in this sector is determined to be 36 to 40% for these years. The technical potential is estimated to be 55 to 65% of these values. The total technical-potential waste energy recovery in the low, medium, and high temperature stages using waste heat recovery appliances for products, flue gas and wall heat recovery was estimated to be from 224 PJ to 503 PJ over the years studied. Usage of technology device according to efficiencies for the sector was estimated to be 22.40 PJ/year to 67.45 PJ/year.

Potential of obtained biodiesel from WCO in the World and Turkey was determined. Physical and chemical properties of methyl ester were determined in the laboratory. The methyl ester was tested in a diesel engine with turbocharged, four cylinders and direct injection. Obtained results were compared with No. 2 diesel fuel. In addition, if WCO is evaluated as biodiesel, environmental pollution caused by waste cooking oil diminished.

Of total energy input, 35.05% was produced in 2000. It was also determined that 28.15% of total energy input produced in 2011, respectively while the rest obtained by imports. In 2011, 34.47%of Turkey’s total end-use energy was consumed by the residential-commercial sector. Annual fuel consumptions in space heating, water heating and cooking activities as well as electrical energy uses ty by appliances are determined for 2000, 2011. It is clear from this figure that the energy efficiencies in the years studied range from 57.05 to 65.53%, while the exergy efficiencies vary from 8.02 to 10.07%. In addition, researches on EHA efficiency indicated an efficiency of 81% for the first law of thermodynamic and 22% for the second law of thermodynamics. Particularly efficiency of the exergy is conside...

These systems will have increasing importance for using solar energy in domestic heating systems. As solar energy is a diurnal cyclic resource, storing excess energy for long or short-term periods will both increase the use of solar energy systems and decrease fossil fuel consumption.
