My main passions in life have all been based around design and technology. Graphic Design, photography, gaming, cryptocurrencies and blockchains. Last year, whilst re-evaluating my future, I discovered that programming encapsulated all of these passions and as a developer, I could create something to benefit each of these fields.
From there, I began learning Python and completed a Software Engineering bootcamp where I also learnt HTML and CSS for responsive design. I also gained experience using the Bootstrap and Django frameworks which I found really interesting. I felt that Bootstrap was a great way of learning the capabilities of HTML and CSS. My overall grade was in the top 5 out of 289 students which is an achievement I am proud of. Since completing the course I am analysing which language to study next so I can broaden my horizons, improve employability and continue my journey en-route to becoming a Junior Software Developer.
The tech industry is where I want to be and I believe that by being a developer, I can build a career that utilises my strengths and enables me to reach my full potential within the sector and progress.
Currently I am working on a Capital Gains Tax calculator which complies with the HMRC guidelines. This is my first program with real-world application so I am very excited by this. The reward for me is that if I complete the program to a working standard within a week I can save myself £219 by not having to use a pre-existing calculator.
I am looking to switch careers into development so if you are an employer who is hiring, please contact me on LinkedIn and I would be happy to talk. I may not have years of experience yet but I make up for it in my dedication, work ethic and willingness to learn.
For anyone who just wants to collaborate or chat, feel free to contact me here. I am always happy to meet new people.
