Vera Ferron Vilchez
I am Associate Professor in the Department of Management 2 at University of Granada (Spain) since 2017. Previously, I was assistant professor (2013-17) and interim professor (2008-10) in the same department as well as a research fellow affiliated (2006-08) to various research projects.
I belong to the research group “Innovation, Sustainability and Management”. My PhD dissertation, entitled “The proactive environmental strategy and internal approaches in business”, has the international mention and was presented in October, 2009.
At present, my research interest is about whether it is (or not) profitable to be an environmentally responsible firm, analyzing those advanced practices of environmental management that are most interested in adopting by firms from the point of view of improving both economic and environmental performance. My research follows different approaches: from the perspective of internal process improvement (e.g., adoption of environmental management systems and certification via ISO 14001 and/or EMAS, eco-innovation, eco-efficient practices, etc.) to those aspects related to the improvement of the corporate image through the adoption of environmental practices (e.g., greenwashing, reputation, environmental legitimacy, etc.). I am concerned in knowing whether these activities are (or are not) related to the improvement of business profitability.
