Robin Hartinger-Saunders
Dr. Saunders has 25 years of experience (11 years direct practice) in the field of child welfare. she has extensive experience collaborating with community organizations to advance child welfare practice and improve outcomes for children, youth and families. Her direct practice experience includes casework and supervisory experience across multiple program areas including prevention, foster care, adoption, and juvenile crime/violence.
Dr. Saunders research interests include multilevel factors that contribute to child welfare issues and predict outcomes for children and families. She previously explored family, peer and neighborhood factors that contribute to victimization and criminal offending among young men in Buffalo, N.Y. Furthermore, Dr. Saunders examined the emotional, social, psychological, and practical experiences of adoptive families who adopt children from the child welfare system and examined short and long-term outcomes for adoptive families and adoptees.
Dr. Saunders is currently the Principal Investigator and Program Director of the Georgia State University, Title IV-E Child Welfare Education and Training Program. She is also a co-investigator on the Atlanta Homeless Youth Count and Needs Assessment examining the prevalence of homeless youth in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Saunders continues to be involved in research at the University at Buffalo, Buffalo Center for Social Research examining the effects of neighborhood strain and out of home placement on victimization and offending among young men.
