The mental rotation ability is one of the important components of spatial ability. The purpose of this paper is to develop a test that includes mathematical context regarding the ability of mental rotation measured by various tests in the literature. To this end, a 32-item test was established by departing from questions found in field test in the literature and by adding new questions containing mathematical content. As a result of validityreliability tests performed following the pilot application, 3 items were removed from the test and mental rotation test took its final form by 29 items. Cronbach’s alpha internal consistency of this test with its final form was acquired as .81. According to confirmatory factor analysis, goodness of fit indices was found to be χ2 /SD = 1.42, GFI= 0.92, CFI= 0.93, NNFI= 0.91, RMR= 0.012 and RMSEA= 0.037.

Developing and constantly changing educational activities carries with various needs and approaches oriented towards satisfying them. Learning cycle, an approach fixed to Piaget's theory of cognitive development, is also one of these approaches. In literature, the stage of this approach is set as search, defining of concepts and application of concepts. Despite from time to time being termed in different names as a result of attachments to the stage of this approach, the three-stage of it is mainly accepted by science of educators. The stages of learning cycle formed with one to another make a necessity of following them. It is occurred with many researches that the approach of learning cycle has a good effect on students' cognitive development. The aim of this study is to display an activity which is an example of the usage of learning cycle approach in basic physic laboratories at universities and to analyze whether this approach is in accord with physics experiments.

Spatial visualization, frequently used in many stages of daily life, is also an indispensable part of mathematics and geometry courses. There are many definitions of spatial visualization ability and various tests have been developed to measure this ability. The aim of this study is to develop a new test for determining the spatial visualization ability for students in higher education. For this purpose, a test including 29 items was prepared. The developed test’s pilot scheme was applied to 236 students of mathematics and mathematics education programs in different two state universities. The data obtained were analyzed by packaged software like Iteman 4, SPSS 17.0 and Lisrel8.7. The test, which was developed by discarding two items according to results of item analysis, validity and reliability analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, was finalized. The Cronbach α coefficient of test was calculated as .84 and RMSEA value of test was calculated as 0,032.

The aim of this study is to examine problem posing skills of prospective teachers in terms of their academic success. To this end, 9 prospective physics teachers, who are sophomores, from the Department of Physics Teaching were included within the study taking into consideration their GPAs. These prospective teachers were grouped under three titles, namely, low, medium and high. When the total points of these prospective teachers related to problem posing skills were examined, it was seen that those who have high GPAs have higher problem posing skills than those with medium or lower GPAs, however, no significant difference was observed between those with medium or lower GPAs in terms of their problem solving skills.
