Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study and the study population consisted of registered undergraduates students in the library. Random sampling technique was used to select a sample of one hundred (100) students. The main instrument for data collection was questionnaire. Data were analyzed, using descriptive statistics, consisting of tables of frequency and percentage. The findings revealed that computers and scanners 74 (100%) were the available IT tools in the library under consideration, while the least respondents 17 (23%) indicated that Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) terminals and multimedia devices, representing 22 (29.7%) were also available but not in active use. Computers and scanners were acceptable and use in the University library with response rates of 67 (90.5%) and 46 (62.2%), multimedia devices 28 (37.8%) and interactive whiteboard 10 (13.5%) were partially acceptable and use, while 26 (35.1%) reported that OPAC terminals were not in active use. The study concluded that Information Technology (IT) policies, governing the computer technology acceptance and use were lacking. The study also revealed that the respondents use the computer technology as a platform to support their Teaching, Learning and Research (TLR) work; which enables them to gain speedy access to other sources of information particularly those available online. This, to some extent, will serve as a basis for effective computer technology acceptance and use in the University libraries in Nigeria. Finally, recommendations on the necessary indicators that must be embraced which will ensure effective adoption and proper computer technology acceptance and use were also highlighted.
This study investigates the influence of demographic factors on use of online library resources b... more This study investigates the influence of demographic factors on use of online library resources by undergraduate students in two private Nigerian university libraries.
Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study and the study population consisted of 7500 undergraduates from Babcock University and 2200 from Redeemer’s University. Random sampling was used to select a sample of 291 and questionnaire was the main instrument used for data collection. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics consisting of tables of frequency and percentage for the demographic characteristics and spearman non-parametric correlation was used for the hypotheses. The findings revealed that there was significant relationship between level of study and utilization of online library resources (r=.933.; P= <0.05) and age and use of online library resources (r=.44.; P>0.05). There was no significant relationship between gender and use of online library resources (r=.95.; <0.05) and between religion and use of online library resources (r=.46.; P>0.05). The internet and e-journals were important sources of information for the university undergraduate students. Students’
demographic factors should not be a barrier to e-resources use and as a result, students of all ages and gender should endeavor to acquire knowledge required to enable them make effective use of online library resources anytime and anywhere. Both young and
old students should be encouraged and sensitized on the benefits available in the use of library online resources.

This study investigated computer self-efficacy and computer playfulness among undergraduate students in two selected universities in South-West Nigeria. Descriptive research design method was employed for this study and the population consisted o f undergraduate students from thirteen faculties at Olabisi Onabanjo University and seven faculties at Bowen University who are offering undergraduate programs with a total population o f 15,291. A multi-stage sampling method was adopted to select 10% o f3,465, giving a sample size o f 348. A structured questionnaire was the major instrument used for data collection and the data obtained was analyzed using SPSS. The study found that undergraduates from both universities possessed high degree o f computer self-efficacy. Majority o f the undergraduates from both universities agreed to knowledge o f computer, confidence and ability items. Also, it was also found that computer playfulness had improved the academic performance o f undergraduates from both universities as they declare moderate level. Creativity o f computer playfulness was more pronounced in three indices such as spontaneity, curiosity and imagination. Undergraduates from both universities indicated that computer self-efficacy and computer playfulness can influence students' academic performance. The study recommended that computer self-efficacy should be encouraged among the undergraduates to maximally use their ability in solving computer related tasks.
Computers and scanners were acceptable and use in the university library with respond rates o f 67 (90.5%>) and 46 (62.2%), multimedia 28 (37.8%>) and interactive whiteboard 10 (13.5%>) were partially
acceptable and use, while 26 (35.1%) reported that OPAC were not acceptable and use at all. The study concluded that there is no IT policy governing the library on computer technology acceptance and use. It
can also be deduced from the study that the respondents use the computer technology to support their teaching, learning and research work; to gain speedy access to other sources o f information particularly
those available online etcetera. There should be favorable IT policy that will govern computer technology acceptance and use in the university library. Also, adequate fund should be provided to the library to
sustain and acquire IT infrastructure in order to enhance the computer technology acceptance and use in library.
Redeemer (92.8%), while other e-resources were no
t readily available. Most of the respondents in Babcock (64.0%) and Redeemer (89.1%) used the e-resources for assignment and research/project. Poor Internet connectivity, lack of relevant e-resources in various disciplines, erratic power supply, and lack of technical know-how were the major challenges faced by the respondents. The Internet and e-
journals are important sources of information for both universities undergraduate students. Also, the availability and use of e-resources has no doubt contributed meaningfully to the information acquisition for class work, assignment and research needs of the students.
